The Director, International Property & Specialty is responsible for leading and managing key product development initiatives to support the Assurant Global Property Insurance (GPI) initiatives.
The Product Development Director will create P&C insurance product strategy, drive product development and support Global expansion of existing and new Assurant products and services.

Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, evaluates, and recommends strategies to develop innovative products and services in International markets
  • Owns and drives the development and go-to-market implementation of new products and services in line with the Assurant strategic imperatives
  • Works with business units to monitor and evaluate existing Assurant products and services and opportunities to implement products and services in International markets
  • Develops strategic business plans and tracks key performance metrics for assigned products and initiatives
  • Collaborates & Negotiates internally with senior management, business unit leaders, country leaders, and externally with clients, third party vendors and strategic partners
  • Maintain Product Development cost center budget

Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • 5+ years experience developing and managing Property and Casualty Insurance products at an Insurance Carrier or Managing General Underwriter
  • Proven experience in identifying market demand through consumer research and competitors assessment
  • B.S./B.A. degree

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate product implementation strategy and corresponding operating procedures to all levels within the company
  • Ability to draw upon a broad base of technical skills to creatively solve complex product development challenges
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, dynamic and varied global business environments
  • Appreciation and ability to adopt to corporate culture in different geographies outside the United States
  • Experience successfully communicating with, selling to, and obtaining the support of senior leadership on new initiatives
  • Proven ability to think strategically and innovatively and translate ideas into a complete go-to-market business plan
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams
  • Problem solving ability and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities and priorities to meet organizational goals
  • Ability to process complex time sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions based on this data, and to effectively communicate the related required actions to a broad audience
  • Strong project management skills and good organizational skills to complete multiple complex tasks in a timely fashion
  • Knowledge of and past use of innovation and new product development methods & tools
  • Ability to work with senior level specialists in Legal, Actuarial, Finance, Operations, Compliance, State Fillings, Risk, Data Analytics, IT and Marketing

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • M.B.A. or equivalent advanced degree
  • Experience in successfully developing and/or managing P&C products and services outside the United States
  • Fluency in multiple languages. Specifically fluency in Spanish, Mandarin or Japanese preferred
