About the Role

The Agency Director- Administration & Risk Selection leads several aspects of a Dallas insurance agency’s internal operations. A niche broker (RV dealerships), your priorities as a senior leader include:

  • Underwriting appropriate coverage for renewals and new risks to be marketed 
  • Identify the best markets to secure competitive and reliable coverage
  • Maintain agency’s reputation for exemplary underwriting submissions
  • Nurture new and existing account relationships
  • Build a customer experience different from competitors
  • Manage internal staff/teams & operations (i.e. HR, budgets, finance & accounting)

Duties & Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities will shift, change and have a lot of variety as the business continues to expand.

  1. Underwriting & Quality Control
    • Meticulously review proposals & in-force policy guidelines, coverage exclusions, rates and valuations
    • Ensure appropriate coverage at competitive pricing is secured for the client
  2. Carrier & Client Relations
    • Foster relationships with key insurance company partners; lead negotiations to help secure good business
    • Engage with clients to support their risk analysis & program management
  3. Internal Management
    • Provide leadership through subject matter expertise and elevate staff capabilities
    • Hire, train and develop employees
    • Foster relationships; drive cohesion and camaraderie
    • Lead team performance to achieve exemplary agency account retention
  4. Sales Support
    • Your ‘hands in the cookie jar’ approach is what the sales team needs to pursue and write complex new business
    • Engagement is key to your success. You are comfortable in face-to-face settings that educate clients on risk management, coverage, and market trends pertaining to them. Clients seek your opinions and advice as a trusted advisor.

Skills & Experience

  • At least 7-10 years of commercial insurance career experience; underwriting background is required
  • Thorough understanding of program management, and possess underwriting expertise in dealerships or “garage” related risks
