General Overview:  Primary responsibility of the Insurance Collections Manager (Manager) is to oversee the day-to-day activities of the Uninsured Motorists (UM) Collections Department.  SubroIQ’s UM team manages the collections process on files where no insurance is available and recovery is made directly from uninsured individuals, companies or other third parties. The Manager is also responsible for the personal development and evaluation of the UM team members, as well as training new hires.  The Manager also serves as a liaison between SubroIQ and its clients.

Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and manage internal workflow assignments throughout the department
  • Serve as subject matter expert in insurance related collections law, licensing and compliance
  • Act as day-to-day client liaison on an operational level.  Manage client projects internally to ensure deadlines are met, and a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved
  • Facilitate inter-departmental communication related to projects and client issues/concerns
  • Evaluate, implement and refine skip tracing tools used to support the UM processes
  • Develop and perform training and mentoring programs for new collection specialists
  • Validate/implement proposed process enhancements to improve project efficiencies 
  • Assist in the collections of escalated accounts and determine if external placement is warranted
  • Work with outside lawyers and other third-party vendors on escalated accounts a needed
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance metrics of UM team members and provide appropriate feedback
  • Identify potential educational and training opportunities  
  • Stay current with changing state laws and regulations pertaining to or affecting subrogation and uninsured collections
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years related management experience in insurance focused collections
  • Prior direct or indirect supervision experience
  • Experience managing caseloads of restitution, judgements and bankruptcy files is preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite of products
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and database tools (Access, SQL) is preferred
  • Interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proven ability and experience in utilizing judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple priorities
