Job Description
Human Resource Centralized Employee Relations Team (CERT) provides comprehensive consulting to leaders and employees regarding employee relations issues and concerns such as performance, behavior and attendance issues. The team strives to ensure consistency with processes to ensure Allstate is treating all employees with fairness and equality in accordance with Allstate policies and procedures. The team creates and implements strategies that include best practices, analyzing trends through rigorous measurement; influences change based on results; and provides leadership education in collaboration with Human Resource business partners and company leadership.
The HR CERT Associate Manager provides in-depth expertise, leadership, and project management skill application in the development and implementation of specific processes, products, and services. Leads a team of professional Employee Relations Consultants and HR Analysts. Accountable for interpreting internal and external business issues and identify, recommend innovative solutions to solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities
Manages Centralized Team
- Coach and train employees.
- Document and recommend process improvements.
- Lead team to solve complex issues.
Leadership and Training/Development
- Serve as subject matter expert.
- Partner with local HR and CERT colleagues to ensure CERT plays an integral role in Human Capital Planning.
- Serve as backup for the Senior Manager of CERT as needed.
- Lead special projects/presentations for the team.
- Lead CERT team to ensure leadership development based on trends and helps with implementing employee relations development programs as appropriate.

Coaching and Counseling Employees and Leaders

Provide compressive coaching and counseling to leaders on complex employee relations issues.
Involuntary Termination
- Review Requests for Terminations and confer with consultants and leaders to determine if involuntary termination is appropriate.
Investigations
- Consult with HR Consultants on investigations they have conducted to assist in determining appropriate outcome.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of related experience
- Ability to implement and provide input into the development and implementation of processes, products, and services that support strategic direction and have a long term impact on achieving business goals
- Leadership skills – Ability to manage a large team of professional HR consultants. Identify opportunities for individual, team, and company improvement. Provides appropriate coaching on technical and interpersonal skills needed for a project or team member.
- Relationship management experience – Ability to build strong relationships with business leaders and colleagues. Must have strong influencing skills and possess diplomacy and tact during difficult situations.
- Interpersonal skills – Demonstrate awareness of employee’s attitudes and feelings. Effectively consult and influence others. Exhibit empathy and consideration.

- Advanced communication skills – Analyzes, interprets, and provides key and complex communication to team members, clients, and selected management, both written and orally.
- Teamwork/collaboration skills – Provides guidance and collaborates with team in order to accomplish goals.
- Strong understanding of business unit operations; possess a strong knowledge of HR and company policies and procedures. Possess a strong knowledge of all employment laws including federal and state laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills. Ability to create spreadsheets, consolidate data and formulate observations and recommendations.
- Strong project management and presentations skills.
