Allstate Insurance Company has an exceptional career opportunity for an Catastrophe Inside Adjuster in Coppell, TX!
The Adjusting Function is responsible for verifying policy coverage and limits. The Adjusting function investigates and evaluates damage and/or liability; estimates damages, losses, or total indemnity; sets and maintains reserves; and/or negotiates and settles claims. Catastrophe (CAT) claims result from catastrophic weather events, such as hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, and other man-made catastrophic events as well as local office load balancing claims and can include auto, commercial, flood and/or property losses.
Under general supervision, this job is responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling moderately complex CAT personal property or liability insurance claims. The individual handles moderately complex coverage investigations, fast track estimating, and losses that do not require an outside adjuster’s inspection and works directly with clients. This individual reviews the insurance policy, reviews reports and photos, evaluates damages, determines loss coverage, negotiates and settles claims, and authorizes payments. In addition to their adjusting duties, as a CAT adjuster, this individual also may infrequently, and under occasional direction from unit members, assist in workflow management when a mega-event occurs. The individual delivers compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention. The individual is capable of working independently, prioritizing the individual's own responsibilities, and managing the individual's own workload. The individual also consistently meets band level behaviors, production, quality, and/or customer service goals.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Makes and maintains a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met
- Researches and responds to moderately complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues
File Documentation and Reporting
- Summarizes documents and enters into claim system notes
- Documents a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision making process
- May handle first notice of loss of water damage claims
Coverage, Liability and Evaluation
- Investigates, reviews, determines and verifies moderately complex coverage/policy information
- Handles inside investigation of mortgagee claims
- Provides coverage explanation to customer
- Reviews, evaluates and submits potential underwriting referral actions
Damage Estimating
- Reviews/approves moderately complex repair estimate
- Prepares moderately complex damage estimates
- Organizes and reconciles bills
- Conducts fast track estimating
- Handles ALE (additional living expense) claims as needed
- Handles contents inventories and moderately complex pricing analysis, and prepares claims reports
- Handles specialized claims (e.g., business interruptions, loss of income, E&O policies) and supplements
- Estimates water damage in a dwelling, hail damage, and smoke or fire damage
- May handle claims involving sink holes or Public Adjuster involvement
Negotiation and Settlement Guidance
- Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices
Other Projects and Responsibilities
- May participate in one or more moderately complex special assignments
- May serve as a committee team lead for smaller projects or as a committee team member on medium projects
- Interprets and applies all state and storm issues across all states
- Basic knowledge of all regional construction types and related repair methodologies
- Understands the oversight differences in leading staff versus contingent workers
- Occasionally acts as a trainer or mentor for new employees
- May infrequently fill in for the CSL/Team Lead as needed

Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
- Ability to interact effectively with internal or external customers and act with empathy
- Applies general knowledge of insurance policy, coverage, and regulation
- Applies general knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable legal compliance standards
- Applies general industry knowledge to discipline practices, including best practices, to support the business unit
- Applies general knowledge of analytical procedures to reconcile, manipulate, and recognize patterns of data
- Applies general knowledge of standardized problem solving and preparation of basic reports for analysis
- Applies general ability to leverage learned technical skills in support of team objectives
- Applies general negotiation and/or arbitration skills
- Applies general conflict management and problem resolution skills in managing internal and external customer relationships
- Ability to investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle moderately complex claims
- Provides individual decision making within authority limits
- Has and maintains all appropriate licenses and registrations for the role per state requirements

Work Schedule:
While in Training: Hours will be from 8am-5pm CST (with flexibility as needed)
Regular Hours: Monday - Friday between 7:00am-7:00 PM CST (must be flexible to work shift within these hours and work 12-hour days when needed) and rotational weekend duty.
