Assurant is seeking a Compliance Tech Manager for the Miami, FL facility

The Compliance Technical Manager will support the compliance technical efforts by leading their team to a continuous, integrated and proactive approach to Compliance and Risk. This position is responsible for leading the Compliance Technology Team, driving iterative internal solution development to enhance team productivity and scalability for Assurant’s varied legal and regulatory departments.

This position will be responsible for creating foundational systemic infrastructure that will support the creation of corporate data analytics, dashboards and reporting for all levels of management (predominately directors and above). As a member of compliance management, this role is responsible for managing, developing, overseeing, and leading a team of employees on compliance performance and deliverables for a variety of areas such as licensing and appointment, state filings, compliance management, client communications, and corporate initiatives. As the primary conduit between the employees and upper leadership, the Compliance Technology Manager plays a major role in communicating and modeling principals which are vital to the Assurant’s company culture. This role will also make key decisions for technical issues related to the company after considering everything from cost to quality of hardware or software as it relates to prepares business and financial analysis.

35% - Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and standards.
  • Occasionally assists in the investigation of regulatory complaints. Researches veracity of such and takes corrective action as necessary and/or prepares reply.
  • Formulates policy for areas of responsibility and secures appropriate approvals.
  • Develops and administers procedures necessary to implement approved policy and provides the overall direction necessary to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective services.
  • Participates in client presentations, meetings, conference calls, and visits.
  • Interacts with senior and executive management, clients, account executives, sales force, legal department, government relations department, operational, and support areas throughout the company in response to compliance.
  • Provides guidance to other segments on regulatory issues/changes.
  • Ensures the development of procedures necessary to implement licensing strategies.

25% - Organization, Communication and Prioritization:

  • Communicates with multiple functional areas by representing department in cross functional team meetings. A strong command of subject matter specific to the programs supported by each functional area as well as established best practices is required.
  • Interacts with all levels of management. Have the confidence to present compliance research and requirements to all levels of management, business units and external clients.
  • Establishes clear expectations and communicate with multiple functional areas frequently on status.
  • Communicates the purpose of compliance changes to large groups and across businesses; can recognize challenges and confidence to identify/address them in group settings.
  • Assist in establishing milestones associated with regulatory events and data requests, ensuring milestones are communicated and achieved.
  • Provides direction to the various functional areas supported.
  • Manages multiple activities simultaneously across direct reports and multiple functional areas to accomplish compliance goals.
  • Fosters an environment that encourages clear communication across multiple sites and functional areas.
  • Inspires, influences, and motivates department’s staff, business units and functional areas.

25% - Development of Staff & Operations:

  • Develops junior staff to the next level by ensuring assigned staff fully understand projects, providing effective constructive feedback to staff, identifying and promoting growth opportunities for all junior staff.
  • Assist in the hiring, coaching, and mentoring of the staff.
  • Develops short and long-term goals and plans in consultation with senior management, management team and associates, for areas of responsibility.
  • Provides feedback and conducts performance management, makes decisions as applicable.
  • Develops function-specific orientation and training programs for employees.
  • Establishes standards for effective job performance
  • Delegates responsibilities to supervisory personnel as needed.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, and monitoring of an on-going quality assurance program.
  • Develops disaster recovery plan for the department and ensures area complies with data security, RIM and SOX requirements.
  • Creates efficient workflow patterns and establishes performance standards.

35% -Technical Support:

  • Trains and coordinates the teams technical service while solving procedural problems and recommending improvements to senior management.
  • Determines the corrective measures for hardware and software malfunctions.
  • Establishes and enforces software utilization standards while determining the most feasible design for interfaces between hardware applications systems.
  • Coordinates and provides escalated support to users, while serving as an escalation point to analyze and provide solutions to complex technical tasks;
  • Manages technical service-related operations for an organization
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of the company's technical products.
