Job Summary
Provide underwriting with the account knowledge required to effectively understand and evaluate the applicant or customers' business. Account knowledge includes understanding and evaluating facts about the account and the associated qualitative assessment, which through collaboration with the underwriter will differentiate the account from others within similar classes of business. This job does not manage others This job works under Moderate Supervision: Incumbent performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems which may require exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the supervisor.

Marketing Description

Travelers Risk Control has an exciting opportunity in our Alpharetta office for a Risk Control Associate. This is a developmental position to prepare the successful candidate for a career in risk control with a particular focus on equipment breakdown risks. The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical with a strong interest in predictive and preventive maintenance. The Risk Control Development Program is structured to provide the candidate with the skills necessary to perform equipment breakdown risk assessment surveys and claim investigations of increasing complexity. During the course of the program the candidate will also acquire the skills necessary to be eligible for the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector's exam. Candidates with previous experience making them eligible for the exam will be considered a positive attribute.

The development program will span one to two years dependent on the candidate's development however the risk control discipline is a career learning environment with future exposure to increasing complex technologies and processes. Upon completion of the development program, the candidate will deliver compelling risk control expertise to our customers while partnering with our business units to attract and retain quality business. The intent of the development program is to create a solid foundation upon which to further develop the ideal candidate for a future leadership role as a Senior Risk Control Consultant or Specialist.



Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare, conduct, and complete technically detailed risk assessment evaluations of client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors and to be considered in underwriting/risk selection. Identifying uncontrolled hazards and making appropriate recommendations to the applicant or insured. Consult with clients on ways to control hazards to help them reduce, mitigate, or prevent losses. Understand and demonstrate loss trends and how to apply appropriate risk control products or services that align to the recommendations made to the applicant or insured. Collaborate with underwriting, Claim, Clients, BI Business Partners and other Risk Control staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
One year experience in safety, risk control, or related fields including but not limited to construction, manufacturing or relevant military experience or bachelor's degree in related field required Valid drivers license required Must be able to attain appropriate certification to meet state specific requirements where applicable
