Job Description

At Arity, our mobile capabilities are at the core of what we do, powering live telematics connections and the collection of billions of miles of driving data. As the Director of Mobile Engineering, you will report to the VP of Engineering and help define and support our mobile engineering strategy. You will lead the engineering teams that develop our iOS, Android mobile applications and SDKs. Your team will be responsible for the engineering of mobile products that interface with users, and accurately collect/ingest data from smartphone devices. The ideal candidate will combine excellent technical and business skills to create value for our customers and build upon our mobile offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in the design and development of native iOS and Android mobile apps and SDK, to improve product performance and deliver advanced features.
• Partner with Product and Analytics partners to design and deliver best in class mobile applications and software development kit (SDK).
• Continuous development and delivery of enhancements and new features and capabilities. This means excellent development practices, careful code architecture, and an organization built around rapid releases.
• Champion software engineering best practices, including Agile methodology and Scrum framework.
• Determine resource needs, develop plans and track progress to those plans; resolve conflicts to ensure timely delivery of features.
• Develop the mobile engineering team by hiring, mentoring, motivating and rewarding team members.
• Provide hands-on leadership to a growing team of mobile software engineers.
• Leverage a strong understanding of product, design and business priorities to solve high impact, highly complex problems.

Job Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a software engineering leadership role, managing other leaders and individual contributors.
• Experience leading teams that develop iOS and/or Android mobile applications and SDKs.
• A proven portfolio of mobile iOS and Android products.
• Familiarity with Apple and Google OS release and support mechanisms.
• Proven track record of building and managing high performing engineering teams.
• Knowledge of mobile architecture best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and/or Computer Science.
