Digital Discovery, one of Digital’s three portfolios, fuels growth by creating thoughtful, unique, and memorable digital pathways that enable customer confidence in Liberty Mutual. The portfolio’s Messaging mission helps navigate customers towards digital-first interactions. It is responsible for Liberty’s home-grown customer-messaging solutions, particularly SMS (one-way notifications, two-way service & claims conversations, and customer acquisition).

This newly-created role was created in recognition of the importance & demonstrated success of the Messaging mission and will be tasked with unlocking even more success and opportunities for the company and our customers. As the Senior Product Owner for Messaging, you will be responsible for articulating and translating the overall business vision into strategy and tactics for the mission. To accomplish this, you will serve as the main point person for critical senior stakeholders across groups from Claims to Marketing. This role reports directly to the Vice President for Digital Discovery and has high visibility with the Chief Digital Officer.

To succeed, you will leverage your strong organizational and analytical skills, executive presence, and ability to communicate effectively to consistently drive projects from inception to completion in a fast-paced, collaborative working environment!

Responsibilities:

  • Informs the product/UX vision, roadmap and strategy in order to increase the value of current products/experiences and/or introduce new product/experiences across epics and imperatives
  • Evangelizes the value of Messaging across the business and drives greater adoption of tools in partnership with Marketing
  • Directly leads a team of Product Owners (PO) and partners with the Engineering Manager to guide the work of agile teams, Scrum Masters, Technologists, Architects, and others to ensure the delivery of the vision
  • Influences team decisions to balance business impact and speed, with a bias towards action
  • Partners with POs to ensure that user stories are clear and resolves open issues/questions quickly and authoritatively
  • Ensures all work has clearly-defined objectives and meets the definition of Done
  • Removes roadblocks, provides organizational support, and ensures alignment and consistency across epics
  • Incorporates agile philosophies and processes to guide/teach an agile mindset amongst business partners
  • Serves on the leadership team for the Digital Discovery portfolio, helping shape the group’s strategy

Qualifications:

  • Experience with product management and/or Messaging solutions (e.g., SMS)
  • Motivation to build world-class products for our customers and never settle for second-best
  • High level of business judgment to set clear priorities and understand business value impacts, including situations with ambiguous data or unclear stakeholder requests
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as executive presence; ability to be the decision maker
  • Strong partnership, collaboration, and influencing skills along with willingness to dissent with manager, teams, and partners
  • Strong growth orientation – willingness to accept and deliver feedback with the intention of continuous improvement
  • Technical proficiency or curiosity
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading teams, including distributed (remote) teams
  • Appropriate expertise, equivalent to an MBA or bachelor’s degree in business or computer science and typically requiring 10+ years of experience in business, technology and/or consulting
