Job Family Summary

The Data Analytics Development job family is responsible for collaborating with clients to make objective customer-focused and data-driven decisions by creating applications and reports that provide actionable data. They are also responsible for projects, providing analytics support, and serving in a consultant role across Operations.

Job Description

The Consultant II is responsible for breaking down business problems (i.e. key drivers for trends such as volume increases, low cycle times, decreases in quality, etc.) into applications/reports by assessing the requirements and/or business impact. With limited guidance, the consultant will independently develop tools and reports to provide insights and actionable recommendations to Operations business partners/leaders in the form of projects, striving to positively impact and influence operational efficiencies and business decisions. The consultant will have a passion for problem solving, comfort with ambiguity and the ability to think conceptually, analytically and creatively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling internally created sites / applications
  • Generates and codes work units for simple to intermediate changes, enhancements, and modules according to specifications and standards
  • Accurately documents design and code fixes for all created code to memorialize fixes and dependencies according to established standards
  • Tracks and resolves simple to intermediate defects
  • Assists in production support activities by determining the nature, impact, and extent of the problem
  • Assists with change management activities supporting production deployment to Developers, Quality Control Analysts, and Environment Management personnel
  • Generates code for web, database and dashboard design, changes, and enhancements according to accepted specifications and standards
  • Assists in the creation/update of new/existing reports as needed by operations and customers. This includes requests for ad-hoc reports and/or analysis.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two-year degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related area, or equivalent work experience
  • 2-4 years of application development experience
  • Programming and Technical:
    • Classic ASP (intermediate)
    • ASP.Net (beginner - intermediate)
    • SQL (intermediate)
    • Visual Studio (beginner - intermediate)
    • C# programming (beginner - intermediate)
    • HTML (intermediate – advanced)
    • CSS (beginner - intermediate)
    • JavaScript (beginner - intermediate)
    • VBScript (intermediate)
    • Bonus skills: SSMS, Windows Forms programming, JQuery

Miscellaneous:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Intermediate skills in Word, Excel (especially), Access (especially) and PowerPoint.
  • Time management (be able to prioritize work and manage their time unsupervised)
  • Able to facilitate a discussion with customers and leaders. To be able to discuss technical topics with non-technical people.
  • Intermediate presentation skills (tied closely with communication skills)
