GRM Business Lines State Actuarial Support is searching for a Senior Analyst or Consultant who will play an important role in achieving profitability in support of commercial lines of business.

This individual will analyze data, develop recommendations, and present results to stakeholders. They will be responsible for calculating the impact of rate revisions, and producing rate filing support to address rate deficiencies/redundancies. Additionally, they may support the implementation of new products and the implementation of profitability initiatives. This role will make use of your solid analytical and technical skills and strong project management skills, as well as your abilities to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, provide excellent customer service and effectively communicate and collaborate across departments. You will work closely with State Management, BL Delivery, BL Indications, Product Support Services and Product Automation to ensure rates are accurately and efficiently filed and implemented.

Knowledge of actuarial ratemaking concepts is desired but not required. Strong technical skills, particularly with Excel, SAS and VBA, is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Create data packets to calculate rate impacts and analyze state rate need for commercial lines of business.
  • Conduct complex analysis under general direction.
  • Make recommendations on rate levers for assigned states and present results to State Management.
  • Become a subject matter expert in a particular line of business.
  • Prepare filing support and respond to regulator’s objections.
  • Relentlessly focused on automation and process improvements.
  • Build and maintain efficient tools and queries.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and understand market trends for assigned states.

This position can be a Senior Analyst or Consultant (Grade 15 or 16) dependent on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 3-5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SAS, SQL, and VBA.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, consistently meets deadlines.
  • Ability to efficiently manage various tasks simultaneously and adapt well to change.
