Perform accounting services and financial analyses to assist Bond Construction Services personnel in the investigation, analysis, evaluation and disposition of claims, typically of highest severity or complexity. Assume leadership role by leading training, technical, operational and customer support projects targeting Accounting Executives. Support Bond business by being a resource to assist in the resolution of claims, building and maintaining productive relationships with claim personnel, underwriters, agents and brokers. Interact and collaborate with claim and underwriting colleagues and other critical internal/external business associates.

Travel 50% or more of time performing audits. Perform highest severity, most complex field audits and other financial analyses for Bond and Financial Products Construction Services Claim and Underwriting with minimal supervision. Supervise the management and procedures involving trust accounts. Assist Claim Executive/Counsel in the preparation of Large Loss Memos, quarterly claim reports and reserve analyses to accurately reflect loss development, potential/actual financial exposure and reinsurance, with minimal supervision. Prepare reports which assess potential payment and performance bond exposures on highest severity or most complex construction Bond & Financial Products. Claims (e.g. evaluate contract revenues, outstanding payable obligations, cash flow projections.). Prepare reports for highest severity or most complex claims to assess the financial condition of contractor, evaluating net worth and working capital. Provide technical assistance, guidance and recommendations with most complex accounting issues, principles, systems, and tax-related matters. Make appropriate decisions and make appropriate recommendations to management when necessary. Assure that all policies and procedures, including compliance, regulatory and Bond performance and customer service standards are met or exceeded. Work with leadership of Construction Claim and Underwriting to develop strategic initiatives, market segment procedures, policies and objectives. Identify salvage opportunities in the earliest stages of claim development and coordinate recovery efforts with the Salvage Unit and claims management. Independently pursue recovery sources, when appropriate. Consistently apply superior negotiating skills and expertise to drive terms and conditions consistent with Bond standards and drive strategy. Lead the mentoring of less experienced colleagues. Maintain knowledge of law, legislative initiatives and judicial trends as relates to industry and accounting. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business or similar discipline preferred. Typically has 8 years of construction Finance and Accounting and/or in-house Surety experience. CPA designation preferred.

Adept at framing issues and solutions for surety principals, counsel, underwriters, agents, brokers, colleagues and management. Ability and expertise to convince/persuade others with confidence to influence outcome of interactions through sound judgment and decision making. Teamwork: Sets an example for effective working relationships with peers and managers within and across organizational lines. Builds strong teams of internal and external resources that are technically competent and characterized by a high level of coordination and trust, to resolve claim matters. Leads teams to evaluate and make recommendations on impacts of accounting issues relating to Construction Services Claim and Underwriting. Balances individual needs with market segment goals and fosters cooperation throughout the team. Works with peers to resolve issues by listening for understanding, discussing all issues related to the situation, and coming to a solution. Participates in industry functions to increase visibility in the marketplace, network with key players in the industry and increase knowledge of the industry. Assists in recruiting candidates for open positions and training new and experienced Accounting Executives. Technical Ability: Superior knowledge of most complex accounting issues and practices. Ability to use all Bond technology tools proficiently.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in Finance and Accounting.
