Job Description
The Data Governance and Standards Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for improved enterprise data governance processes. This role will promote collaboration between business AOR’s and technology and advancing data management capabilities critical to enabling decision making across the company in alignment with the Enterprise Data and Analytics Strategy. They will also build up capabilities and processes to efficiently manage data assets and advance the overall goals of the team in the following areas: Enterprise Data Standards, Data Governance and Ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure our data standards drive compliance while supporting our objectives:
• Consolidate or redesign existing data standards where necessary to support stronger centralization and alignment across Allstate Family of Companies
• Implement privacy standards that stay current with regulatory and customer expectations
• Align and integrate with enterprise Data Management capabilities, Cybersecurity/Step Change, Operational Risk, Compliance and legal requirements
• Design functional/technical strategy in data governance
Build up capabilities and processes to efficiently manage data assets:
• Establish business and technology executive accountabilities for data assets end to end management (total cost of ownership decisions, enterprise roadmap prioritization, access approval determination)
• Develop management approach for critical data assets to enable executive Integrate systems of records for multiple asset management systems
• Manage data as a strategic asset providing trusted, secure, quality data.
Create the team structure and processes needed to manage and influence the various data roles:
• Develop enterprise approach and program structure to be enable an ownership framework with appropriate business and technology areas
• Lead and develop team/managers in a data stewardship/governance environment
• Reestablish enterprise Data Steward framework
• Create role integration plan across multiple data impact roles including ORE, ORG, BISO, Record Coordinators
• Champion new ideas and initiatives and create an environment that supports innovation and process improvement
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does have supervisor responsibilities.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Masters/MBA in a field such as Math, Business, Computer Science or Data Architecture
7+ years of related experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP); preferred
• Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT); preferred
Functional Skills
• Advanced data management, quality assurance and data flow skills
• Solid experience in time and task management
• Strong coaching and listening skills
• Strong thought leadership skills
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced presentation skills
• Skills in Oracle, SAS/SQL, and Tableau
