Job Family Summary
The Group Voluntary New Business team provides effective risk management in support of our corporate goals by evaluating, coordinating, setting up the new business systems administrations, and underwriting the risk exposure at both the employer and employee levels for the Group Voluntary products for new and existing accounts.
Job Description
Evaluates and underwrites New and Existing Group Employer Accounts and employee enrollment applications to ensure proper setup of systems information and issue final master policies and amendments as required by Legal Compliance. Responsible for providing excellent customer service on Group New Business inquires and escalations. Trains and develops new team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyzes and reviews new case documentation for accuracy and completion and determine case acceptance based upon participation or approval by Senior Management
- Communicates discrepancies and carefully document concerns with the Home Office employees, Agents or Employers
- Communicates final decision to release or deny coverage based on pre-set requirements
- Releases cases within pre-defined authority amounts as determined by Senior Management
- Analyzes and reviews case and application documentation for exception approval
- Address and document improper review or decisions with the Sr. Associate
- Creates and distributes the Master Policy and any additional amendments for necessary customer signatures using templates created by Legal Compliance
- Creates verbiage for non-standard eligibility, benefits, and premiums based on the employer’s request
- Works with Compliance on language changes and special projects
- Responsible for responding promptly to internal and external customer inquiries via telephone, letter, or e-mail
- Responsible for developing and delivering reporting metrics as needed by the business
- Coordinates huddle meetings and provide support to management and team
- Prepares renewal letters or notification forms based on current benefits and distributes to business partners electronically in accordance with company requirements
- Develops and trains new employees in the Sr. Associate position
Job Qualifications
- College Degree or 2 years experience in the group life/ health insurance industry
- 5 years of prior Customer Service experience
- General Knowledge of underwriting principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good project management and organizational skills
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Ability to establish priorities and multi-task
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel, Word, and Outlook
