Job Description
The Senior Technical Product Manager applies business modeling, technical product knowledge, and market research expertise to gather and define new market approaches for innovative products and services, to achieve business objectives, communicate, and provide innovative solutions to business problems. The Senior Technical Product Manager will be responsible for driving computer vision research through creating product innovations, and will own the product creation efforts from a “start-up” perspective. S/he establishes a common understanding of the business environment in which the solution must be defined, designed, created, deployed, used, and supported. Communication and presentation of new innovations, models, and value capture plans to C-Level executives is a critical part of this individual’s responsibilities. The combination of deep technical knowledge and business acumen is essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
•Provides expertise for multiple areas of technology through research, analysis, and concept development to advance innovative concepts that have direct market impact. Defines the product road map taking advanced technology developments to working product prototypes.
•Applies an advanced knowledge of computer vision, vehicle sensor data, software development, and deep learning to create insurance and non-insurance products, including autonomous vehicle innovations.
•Uses appropriate tools and techniques to elicit and define the technology applications that address the autonomous driving innovations, risk modeling advancements, and contextualizes real time risk using computer vision, sensor data processing and deep learning.
•Provides thought leadership to create or contribute to functional designs, leveraging advanced and/or specialized technical knowledge. Will define features for application prototypes that are important business drivers.
•Assists with ideation, proof of concepts, project initiation, or planning for projects of high complexity. Works within an agile framework to iterate on business ideas to achieve customer value proposition for initial, minimally viable products.
•Leads, plans, and consults on information gathering sessions and business framing workshops.Creates vision and provides thought leadership for the team. Managers and cross functional team members recognize this person as a leader and follow the direction that he/she sets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics
- Master in Engineering or related field is preferred
- 5+ years working as a Technical Product Manager in advanced automotive systems or connected car technologies
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and written to senior leaders
- Must possess a variety of competencies including proven ability in leading cross-functional teams, project management and follow-through, and the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong technology skills
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Strong strategic and analytic skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with a deadline driven environment, requiring minimal supervision
- Insurance industry / business knowledge highly desirable
