Job Description

The Category Management Senior Consultant is a key role supporting assigned category strategies as a subject matter expert with a focus on internal and external data gathering, analysis and reporting. The role requires implementation of ongoing category management intelligence, effectively analyzing spend within categories, undertaking market research and internal demand analysis to support category strategies. Works closely with category managers to support developing category strategy, maintenance, performance and oversight by proactively delivering research and insights as needed to internal customers regarding category performance and marketplace performance to meet category objectives. The category scope for this role includes the following indirect spend categories: data, business intelligence, underwriting services (e.g. paramedical examiners, property inspections, catastrophic modeling, correct classification), third party administrators (e.g. assigned risk, write your own flood), and financial services (payment card processing, lockbox services, collections, corporate card).

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine, quantify and resolve primary business opportunities and key drivers by analyzing data and developing actionable business insights that support the goals of our internal customers
  • Mine existing research and spend data on a regular basis to communicate insights synthesized from multiple sources and different data sets to provide innovative analysis of key business opportunities
  • Analyze current spend data to present business insights to category leadership team
  • Analyze syndicated data to identify current industry trends, forecast future trends and recognize potential opportunities to implement solutions.
  • Identify consumption barriers, seasonality and channel preferences to develop consumer insights needed to identify potential new opportunities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for team members and procurement teams with ad hoc projects and requests and perform project based analytics associated with operational efficiencies

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6 or more years of procurement experience
  • Experience and subject matter expertise in one or more of the in-scope spend categories is strongly preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPM and/or CPSM desirable
