Job Summary
BOND & SI IT is seeking an individual experienced in release management to join the DevOps team. The successful candidate will have strong leadership capabilities and will be responsible for all aspects of the release management practice.
Under limited supervision, Will be the primary point of accountability to the LOB technology partners and other stakeholders across the IT enterprise for the end to end Release Management lifecycle, which includes scheduling, coordination and the management of LOB releases. The releases may include application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects and programs. The Release Manager works collaboratively with all participants in the planning, preparation and successful execution of release day activities. The position also works with IT management to continually improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with the building, deploying and updating of software and environments. Does not manage others.

Marketing Description
BOND & SI IT is a fast moving application development organization supporting all development methodologies - waterfall, incremental and agile. The Bond Development Operations team provides support to all of Bond and Specialty Insurance's application development via the following disciplines: build & deployment, release management, identity and access management, and infrastructure support.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set direction for Release Management processes and services within the Bond area in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Support the organization's movement towards Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and accelerated speed to market by looking for ways to evolve and adapt release management practices without increasing risk
  • Establish benchmarks and report on key measures for release management services.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the release management arena. Look for improvement opportunities within our standard activities, make suggestions, vet with appropriate staff and implement.
  • Be an active participant in change. Seek to understand and move your way through transitions in a positive way that benefits the company and yourself.
  • Work with application development teams to develop schedule of changes for assigned releases.
  • Work with the application development teams through all phases of the development lifecycle, to remove barriers to software delivery and ensure smooth implementations of application version and off-version releases.
  • Hold application development teams accountable for adhering to release management schedules and processes.
  • Manage Scheduled Releases from Kick Off to Post Release. Lead Bond IT through Release Production Implementation plans and execution for assigned releases
  • Manage tracking and reporting of release & change metrics and the associated details.
  • Comply with Enterprise Change Management (ECM) standards and related procedures across non-prod and prod environments. Includes coordinating, creating, approving and monitoring of required change (Remedy) tickets.
  • Adhere to audit controls related to releases and use available tools to provide evidence of compliance as needed
  • Work closely with the Business Information Security Officer (BISO) as it pertains to release controls and identity/access management practices


Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of work experience in related field.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Related Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent work experience. Typically has 5 or more years of experience.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
  • 2-4 years change/release Management experience
  • Experience or familiarity with the following:
    • Ticketing and work tracking with such tools as BMC Remedy and CA Agile Central (formerly Rally)
    • Team collaboration and content management with such tools as Microsoft SharePoint 2016, Slack and MS Teams
  • Must have strong interpersonal, planning, facilitation, negotiating, and organizational skills.
  • Able to identify risk and issues and recommend appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Can deal with changing priorities and meet tight timelines in a matrix environment. Can work under pressure, manage competing priorities and work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Not afraid to be inquisitive and willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Self motivated and energized to work with highly diversified business and technical teams (incl. offshore partners).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate actively, openly and effectively (verbal and written) with a variety of different audiences (business and technical).
  • Be a proven contributor in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, SDLC, Agile and Project Management methodologies.
  • Analytical Thinking: Identifies current or future problems or opportunities, analyzes, synthesize and compares information to understand issues, identifies cause/effect relationships and explores alternative solutions to support sound decision making.
  • Change Management/Resilience: Remains energized and focused in the face of ambiguity, change or strenuous demands.

  • Relationship Management: Seeks out, builds, fosters and maintains productive relationships, networks or alliances to meet goals and achieve results.
