We are currently seeking a professional Senior Financial Systems Administrator at our Costa Mesa, CA

 

 

Description

The Sr. Financial Systems Administrator - Hyperion Applications/Oracle eBS is responsible for providing technical and strategic leadership of Accounting/Finance Systems capabilities.  

  • Primary point of contact, system advocate, and subject matter expert for Accounting and Finance applications which include Hyperion HFM, Hyperion Planning, Essbase, ARCS, and Oracle eBS.

  • Responsible for design, development, testing and directs the on-going administration of assigned enterprise performance management and accounting software-based business processes. 

  • The role includes maintaining, providing governance, testing, troubleshooting, and process administration for all entities that use these applications.

  • The Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) system is the consolidation system that all Oracle eBS company codes feed into. This critical system is the company's book of record for its consolidated internal financial statements and external financial statements.

  • HFM Planning (Planning) is used for profit planning and forecasting purposes and is a critical complimentary and feeder system to HFM.

  • The core reporting tool is Hyperion Reporting Studio and incorporates data from HFM, Essbase, and Planning to produce the monthly and annual financial statements.

  • The company uses Oracle's Account Reconciliation Cloud System (ARCS) to perform its reconciliations. These systems rely on FDMEE to move data between them.  

  • Position requires building working relationships with the Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Finance teams to which they support, along with the internal and external IT resources that support these systems.

 

In addition to the administrative duties associated with this position it is also responsible for:

  • Gaining an understanding of the broader business landscape to identify enhancement opportunities for the Accounting and Finance applications and proactively take the steps necessary to see them through to the production environment.

  • The Sr. Financial Systems Administrator will oversee 2-3 analysts whose primary function is to execute the core activities for the administration of the financial systems. 

  • Active role in performing some of the more complex aspects of the system administrative duties. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise and mentor the analysts to enhance and expand their skill sets to be able to support the more complex areas of the financial system administration.

  • Lead the design, development, testing and implementation of changes to the Accounting and Finance applications in support business initiatives and change requests.

  • Continually assesses how HFM and Planning can help support changes in the business environment, formulating and executing enhancement ideas to leverage existing or new application technology with a keen focus on automation of system administration activities.

  • Support of design, documentation, testing and maintenance of all metadata and rules changes related to chart of accounts, entities, scenarios, custom members, etc.

  • Manage and coordinate metadata updates thru the various environments.

  • Ensures that the team maintains the HFM and Planning business rules cross validation, calculation, and cost allocation script logic. Re-writes scripts as necessary based upon changes in business or process.

  • Coordinate with IT to ensure regular backups are maintained and available in the event system recovery is needed. Support system restores when necessary.

  • Participates in testing of system fixes, new releases and enhancements.

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of all HFM and Planning objects including web forms, rules, member lists, data grids, journal reports, data synchronization models, Financial Reporting Studio and related task flows.

  • Preparation of the system for the monthly close process including master data preparation, process management and update of system task flows and supporting SmartView queries/analysis as needed.

  • Support requests for assistance with functionality and data-related inquiries.

  • Identifies, resolves, and monitors issues related to application functionality.

  • Research and coordinate resolution of system-related issues with IT and external consultants as well as Oracle support, as needed.

  • Communicates as the primary application liaison for business processes across External Financial Reporting, Tax, IT, Corporate Accounting, Audit and Finance.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable change management processes and procedures including internal controls.

  • Remain current on the latest technology and release notes in anticipation of future business needs and/or to improve productivity and departmental capabilities. This could include travel to conferences.

  • Provides end-user training to company end-user base on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Promotes and sustains consistency across the Accounting and Finance application ecosystem.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting/business/economics or computer science, or equivalent work or education related experience required.

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Systems Analyst, System Administrator, or equivalent experience required. Hyperion/Oracle experience preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in an accounting/finance environment required.

  • Extensive experience with HFM, Planning, SmartView, and Essbase, including design, and maintenance of Essbase Cubes and Hyperion infrastructure.  Experience working with an Essbase OLAP toolset, including creating and maintaining Essbase Calculation and Reporting syntax and developing Load Rules.

  • Experience directly assisting users with system issues, leading project teams and effectively communicating system functionality to end users.

  • Strong experience using MS Office products including advanced Excel functionality, MS Access, and some VBA.

  • Experience reading and writing Structured Query Language (SQL)Familiarity with relational databases and ability to manage and analyze large quantities of data.

  • Thorough understanding of software structure, testing techniques, and issue resolution methodology.

  • Familiarity with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), as well as Agile project management methodologies preferred.

  • Excellent planning, scheduling, implementation, conceptual, organizational, analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in English.

  • Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.

  • Successful completion of Auto Club pre-employment assessments, background and drug screenings.
