Job Summary
Responsible for the underwriting of Small Commercial endorsements, renewals and/or new business within delegated authority. Goals are focused on supporting key business objectives including account retention and account growth. The incumbent is accountable for underwriting in a high volume environment. Territory is countrywide. Under moderate supervision, operates within authority as delegated by the Business Center Underwriting Director. This job does not manage others

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluation of complex new, renewal and endorsement activities to accept, modify, or decline. As needed, price accounts following defined best practices. Provide technical underwriting analysis and recommendations to other employees within Travelers Small Business Underwriting and Business Centers. Responsible for insuring compliance with underwriting strategies and regulatory requirements. Provide excellent customer service to agents and internal business partners. Responsible for engaging with agents to close individual transactions. Provide technical expertise in the delivery of underwriting training supporting the needs of the local Business Center teams. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum two years property casualty insurance experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
4 year college degree or related insurance industry experience preferred. 2 years underwriting experience preferred.

Business & Technical Knowledge: Strong technical multi-line underwriting skills; strong knowledge of Property/Casualty business and products. Teamwork & Collaboration: Establishes strong relationships and networks within Select Business and Underwriting Centers, the Travelers Enterprise and externally. Communication: Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Organization: Strong organization and Time Management Skills - Ability to manage multiple tasks; prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced, decision oriented environment.

Holiday work hours (Federal and religious) Occasionally Minimal holiday work hours - perhaps a day shift 2 days a year.

Licensing or Certificates
