Position Overview

Universal Property & Casualty Insurance is seeking an experienced Personal Lines Product/Forms Analyst to support rate, rule and forms development in current licensed states as well as expansion into new states.  The ideal candidate will have advanced experience developing policy/contract language, preferably for the ISO based Homeowners and Dwelling Fire programs. Under general supervision, this role leads design, analysis, development, compliance, and maintenance of policy and non-policy forms. The candidate must be analytical, prone to research, and driven to succeed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Research state insurance regulations; analyze impact of regulations on new and current products.
  • Construct coverage forms, endorsements, manuals, and applications needed to support new and existing products; provides clear and concise work with detailed recommendations, explanations and rationale
  • Advanced ability to comprehend and communicate intent of contract language as well as interpret inter-relationships of coverages across contracts
  • Partner with Actuarial and Regulatory Compliance teams to review insurance products to support profitability, competitiveness, and legal compliance
  • Recommend product changes in response to consumer needs and marketplace trends. Understands the impact of such decisions on agents, Enterprise Contact Center, Marketing and Consumers
  • Review and implement legislative, regulatory, and other mandated changes
  • Facilitate product filings/responses and maintain good working relationships with Insurance Departments.
  • Observe filing and forms maintenance procedures
  • Contributes to the development of coverage philosophy and processes, based on an advanced understanding of property and casualty insurance.
  • Communicate product changes to other functional areas in the Enterprise such as Underwriting, Claims, and Marketing
  • Develop IT requirements for system implementation of product changes
  • Assist with product training as needed
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on special projects including new processing system initiatives
  • All other duties assigned by Management
     

Required Knowledge, Skills & Ability

  • Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting, claims and/or product development functions.
  • Strong research skills particularly in the area of insurance regulation.
  • Experience with constructing coverage forms, endorsements, and manuals is a must.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong ability to multi-task on projects while being attentive to details and target dates.
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented.
  • Ability to work with a team and with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office certified
  • INS, AINS or similar designation.
