Position Overview:
The Accounting Representative will perform monthly and quarterly processing required to maintain accurate and timely records in the accounting department. They will assist in the production of various quarterly and annual financial statements and reports. They will process payments for reinsurance balances due. They will also assist and support others in the department as required.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in compilation of all Financial Reporting processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting to management and external parties
- Record assigned books of business monthly/quarterly; includes journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
- Complete assigned Asset Impairment Test documents
- Complete all tasks in accordance with department workflows
- Perform data entry for accreditation.
- Perform Annual Statement schedule preparation for three insurance companies for assigned schedules
- Perform Quarterly Statement schedule preparation for three insurance companies for assigned schedules
- Compile assigned state filings and handle mailing of all required documents
- Perform data entry for regulatory reporting as needed.
- Comply with all state and NAIC regulatory requirements timely and accurately
- Develop/maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to the following:
- Participate in Financial Audits/Reviews with E&Y. Respond to all applicable audit requests timely and accurately.
- Act as key contact for assigned books of business.
- Process ceded payments when due. Apply payments accurately and in the same period that the payments are made in Wins and/or PRS.
- Create and update procedure documents and determine ways to improve on exiting processes
- Participate in cross training
- Participate in other financial division initiatives
- Learn insurance accounting requirements, including new statutory requirements and maintain knowledge of all applicable software tools utilized in department
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience is required.
