The Manager, Compliance is responsible for oversight and implementation of compliance initiatives within Corporate Compliance.  This role is responsible for assisting in the development of programs and strategies to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and company policies. Additionally, this role is responsible for promoting awareness of compliance matters. 

Contact with Regulatory Bodies:
* Serve as an enterprise  contact with state or federal regulatory agencies in partnership with the business and other internal constituents; engage on a broad range of topics and inquiries, including, but not limited to: market conduct exams, regulatory audits or investigations, and data calls.
Market Regulatory Activity:                                    
* Facilitate and lead  non-financial regulatory activities from initial notice through closure.
* Draft and/or influence Travelers responses to inquiries, criticisms and alleged violations from regulators through collaboration with internal business, compliance and legal areas.
* When appropriate, coordinate responses with other business groups and/or Corporate Compliance.
* With oversight, may design, monitor and negotiate corrective actions and potential penalties.
* Develop and report relevant market regulatory activity to business clients, such as Travelers results and/or trending industry analysis.
Address Consumer Complaints:
* As assigned, Identify trends and root causes in complaint data to determine if changes are needed to existing training or business processes/procedures. 
Advise, Consult, Train on Regulatory Matters/General Compliance Issues:                     
* Research and conduct analysis on complex regulatory issues and work with assigned business areas to provide consultation and guidance on compliance, and regulatory issues regarding the development of new and existing products, workflows and strategies.
* Help to design, execute, and/or support compliance awareness training for the business.
* Create and maintain various compliance procedures and internal protocols.
* Collaborate with business partners to develop compliance solutions in response to compliance or regulatory discrepancies.  
Compliance Assessment:                                            
* Work with business partners to identify regulatory compliance or control/workflow gaps through various proactive risk-based compliance techniques.                                                                         
* Create recommendations and/or corrective action plans and monitor for completeness.
Market Regulatory Research and Trends:              
*Analyze and monitor competitor data and industry websites and participate in industry events to identify state or subject matter trends. Proactively assess specific compliance attributes that are the subject of regulatory criticism for competitors. 
* Develop and maintain understanding of state and/or federal regulatory climate. Communicate relevant market regulatory activity to influence regulatory response and business strategy.
Vendor & Third Party Regulatory Oversight:           
* In collaboration with business partners, may monitor performance of regulatory vendors and third-parties to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.    

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Typically 7-8 years experience in business, insurance, risk management and/or audit areas. Strong communication skills required. Any experience with managing staff a plus.

*Demonstrates willingness, cooperation, and concern for business issues.                                          
* Ability to understand assigned business unit and business priorities.
* Ability to build and foster relationships with team, business, regulators and technical partners to achieve objectives.
* Ability to coordinate with other technical areas to achieve project/department or division goals.
* Ability to manage time and competing priorities and provide management with accurate and timely status information.

Ability to analyze and interpret legal documentation. 5 years of experience with state jurisdictional guidelines, regulations and procedures.
