The Global Retail Markets Product Management team is looking for a strategic, big-picture thinking Assistant Director, Underwriting Strategy to drive the underwriting strategy and develop sophisticated underwriting solutions to enable profitable growth for all lines of business.

This highly visible role is responsible for leading large-scale initiatives for all lines of business across both Liberty and Safeco brands. Strong collaboration across Product, Distribution, Marketing, Digital, and Claims is required to effectively drive initiatives forward. Responsibilities include enhancing underwriting capabilities by leveraging underwriting models or changes to point-of-sale underwriting process flows, in addition to developing entirely new tools & processes.

This role will have senior management visibility and regularly present findings to both Product & wider GRM leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all phases of delivering underwriting products, including analysis, testing, piloting, and designing CW rollout plans
  • Play a key role in developing the broader underwriting strategy for all lines of business
  • Utilize analytical, problem solving, and leadership skills to execute and deliver initiatives aligned with long term underwriting strategy
  • Summarize analysis and effectively present & articulate results to senior management
  • Collaborate with the subject matter experts within the SBU and across other business units to enhance underwriting capabilities
  • Search for and incorporate competitive intelligence to develop and refine underwriting capabilities



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, economics, or other quantitative field
  • Minimum 5 years, typically 6 years or more of experience in data analytics, strategy and operations, preferably in insurance
  • SAS proficiency required, with advanced SAS, Excel skills preferred
