Job Summary
Under general direction, manages and provides guidance to a team of auditors. Develops an audit plan, budgets resources, and monitors results. Discusses results with the Chief Auditor and collaborates with other Program Directors. Provides development opportunities, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Maintains a working relationship with business management. This job is a manager.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for managing a team which executes audit work for Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure and IT Applications within Travelers. Manages audit, business monitoring, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, external auditor support, and assurance initiatives being completed by the program team, ensuring timely and quality deliverables, proper staffing, and coordination with other Corporate Audit resources as necessary. Prepares the program's annual audit plan and executes the plan on time and within budget. Prepares documentation in adherence to internal audit professional standards, best practices and Corporate Audit's methodology. Reviews workpapers to determine completion and adherence to standards. Ensures that all communications delivered by the program team are of high, professional quality and meet Corporate Audit standards. Performs regular business monitoring of Traveler's IT functions by maintaining ongoing relationships with key members of business management, attending meetings and reviewing documentation. Develops and maintains positive/proactive business relationships with IT business management, external auditors, Corporate Audit peers, and as appropriate, with business people outside Travelers. Champions continuous improvement of Corporate Audit and Travelers by mentoring and developing Corporate Audit personnel, providing constructive feedback to improve individual performance within Corporate Audit and adding value to business management by acting as a risk advisor. Identifies emerging industry issues and assesses any implications for the company. Prepares the quarterly audit results summary presented to business management. The summary includes the results of recent audits and the status of issues and corrective action plans. Proactively trains and develops staff in the application of various technology audit and risk assessment techniques, as well as provides guidance, support and constructive feedback to team members, managers and directors. Meets with business management regularly to discuss the status of the Audit Plan and any other key issues. Develop and support internal improvement initiatives. Consistently adheres to internal audit professional standards, best practices and Corporate Audit's methodology. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
10 + years of work experience in IT or as an IT Auditor, with experience in one or more technology disciplines (network, database, business applications, programming, etc.). Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
BA/BS in Computer Science/MIS or related discipline. Thorough knowledge of the property casualty business. Comprehensive knowledge of risk assessment, technology and auditing principles. Comprehensive knowledge of IT Risk Frameworks (COBIT, COSO, NIST, etc.).

Technical Competence: Advanced knowledge of insurance business, IT systems and products. Advanced understanding of the relationships between financial, operational and technology risks and controls as well as the insurance industry. Expert knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Advanced understanding of the audit cycle, universe, plan and schedule, including business monitoring and SOX validation. Advanced skills with commonly used office software including: MS Office, email and the internet. Expert ability to evaluate the materiality of issues and see the big picture . Ability to utilize critical thinking by applying process analysis, business intelligence, and problem solving techniques. Ability to leverage CAATs to improve audit test efficiencies and effectiveness. Leadership: Advanced decision-making abilities; regularly structure solutions to complex problems. Outstanding project management skills. Advanced ability to regularly work on multiple, diverse, concurrent projects. Openness to influence, flexibility and self-awareness. Leadership recognition and strong role model capabilities. Ability to embrace change and drive improvement and innovation. Ability to persuade and motivate others through collaboration and cooperation. Communication: Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; disseminate information about decisions, plans and activities. Strong public speaking skills, frequently articulating messages to senior and executive management. Ability to maintain a no-surprises approach when communicating internally. Exceptional writing skills with the ability to edit and improve the writings of subordinates to produce executive level communications. Build Relationships: Ability to build productive working relationships with co-workers, business management and external parties. Team Building: Ability to coach and encourage employees to develop in their careers. Ability to train and mentor staff on the audit methodology and core competencies. Ability to recruit, mentor and develop personnel. Ability to develop and support internal improvement initiatives.
