Job Description
The Media team at Allstate provides strategic direction for the investment of media funds across all product lines and marketing initiatives. The team identifies key target audiences, reports on competitive advertising spend and activity, leads the development of all national and local media plans, and reviews opportunities for investment. This team oversees the execution of media tactics including all investment and often negotiates deals directly with vendors. The team also works with the Allstate modeling and analytics team to facilitate modeling inputs related to the media plans. The team manages all media budgets, billing and payment and they manage the relationships with all of the media advertising agency partners and other areas of marketing (IMC, eBus, MARA) for each product line.
The Media Director will lead the development of integrated, data driven media strategy and execution for Allstate. This individual will oversee a team responsible for the execution of media initiatives and programs to drive growth for the enterprise. In addition, this person will manage the relationship with our media advertising agencies and will have direct oversight and management of all working media budgets.
Key Responsibilities
The Media Director will serve as the key media strategist for the company and will manage the overall media strategy for Allstate. This person will manage a team. The Media Director will act as the subject matter expert and consultant for media across the enterprise, integrating traditional and digital media, as well as local and national plans. Specifically, the media director will
- Be a strategic thought leader driving Allstate to be innovative and in the media space
- Provide day-to-day management and oversight of all media plans and investment, including all product lines and marketing initiatives
- Oversee the investment of all media funds, including strategic direction for the annual investment in the television upfront market, making sure buys meet all of the corporate requirements and are negotiated and leveraged to the fullest extent
- Provide a post analysis of all media buys and determine ways to optimize by working collaboratively with data and analytics teams
- Provide detailed working media budget management by product/program including monthly reconciliations, forecasting and billing oversight
- Develop and maintain good relationships with media vendors and internal teams to facilitate integrated programs that deliver against Allstate’s objectives
- Seek out and evaluate partnerships, opportunities, data and media platforms that deliver value add
Key Responsibilities Continued
- Be up to date on consumer trends that will affect how consumers engage with media
- Analyze and report on monthly, quarterly and annual competitive ad spend for Allstate’s businesses
- Manage relationships with all media agency partners: RFP/Hiring, scope of work, fees, staffing, performance ensuring Allstate is receiving the best value for the investment
- Manage media partner audits to ensure our fees are aligned with the value provided
- Manage media team, provide direction and guidance, performance evaluations, compensation, hiring
- Facilitate management reporting for all media related needs
- Work collaboratively across all marketing departments to develop and execute plans according to objectives, with relevant creative, messaging, placements, targets, etc., rolling up to the strategy
- Represent Allstate at industry conferences and events as a speaker, panelist, attendee demonstrating Allstate’s media expertise
- Work in lock-step with the digital media team to insure Allstate’s overall media investment represents an integrated, robust, optimal plan
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required- Marketing concentration preferred
- Minimum of 12+ years of previous work experience in media management, including supervisory experience and team management—strong preference for advertising agency media experience at a senior management/senior planning level
