Job Summary
Assist in advancing the analytics within the Internal Investigations group on the Corporate Security and Safety team. Conduct a variety of statistical analyses including data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning and/or natural language processing to help the detect and deter/prevent fraud and misconduct and promote a secure and safe environment for Travelers. Serve as a statistics subject matter expert, reviewing analyses and sometimes providing direction to other team/project members. This role does not currently manage others.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Perform and manage a variety of advanced statistical analyses including data mining, predictive modeling and/or machine learning and/or natural language processing.
  • Analyze/interpret data, draw business inferences and clearly articulate findings for target audience.
  • Assist in finding, evaluating and utilizing additional sources of data.
  • May lead in-depth efforts in applying, validating and implementing predictive models.
Apply established techniques to new business problems. Assist in developing new approaches
.
May manage one or more advanced research projects simultaneously.

Develop business acumen to ensure analytics recommendations are increasingly relevant and appropriate.

Proactively stay abreast of and inform others of developments and trends in analytics pertinent to the insurance industry.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, statisticians and other analytics peers across the organization to ensure continued learning and consistency and alignment where appropriate.
  • Attend various seminars and conference as appropriate. May be asked to interpret and disseminate information attained.
  • Assist in guiding and/or coaching others on specific modeling and programming techniques.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners.


Minimum Qualifications
PhD STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree with zero years experience or Masters STEM degree with 3 years experience or Bachelor's STEM degree with 5 yrs experience required. Moderate working knowledge of modeling/research/analytics or actuarial required. Relevant statistical analysis work experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Relevant work experience in research and/or advanced analytic work (e.g. predictive modeling) preferred.

Demonstrates intermediate to strong ability and knowledge of database principles, data profiling, statistics and data modeling and can apply this knowledge in new or complex situations. May guide other professionals.
