Job Summary

As a member of the Personal Insurance (PI) Technology Senior Leadership Team, our VP, PI Chief Architect role has three primary responsibilities.

First, the PI Chief Architect is responsible for maintaining a long-term Architecture Blueprint and Roadmap for our Technology landscape including connections to Enterprise solutions. The individual will directly lead a group of ~35 senior architects that are deeply integrated within our agile execution model who are accountable for translating the Blueprint into effective, adaptable business solutions. The architecture group spans our core value streams across Product, Distribution, Customer, Business Intelligence &Analytics, as well as, Technical Value Streams.

Secondly, the individual has accountability for the technology resources aligned to our PI Innovation team who have a passion for leveraging next generation architecture, tools and processes to solve real business problems, as well as, contribute to identifying/seizing new business opportunities.

Thirdly, the individual will be an active leader in the Enterprise Architecture community directly influencing our go-forward strategy as it relates to Cloud, target Enterprise platforms & services, as well as,execution of our overall Application Strategy. And finally, driving consistent and effective adoption of agile practices including iterative development,continuous integration, continuous delivery and test-driven development across Personal Insurance alignment with the overall Enterprise.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Serves as a member of the PI Technology Senior Leadership Team providing broad leadership, recruiting & cultivating talent, continuously driving improved performance, as well as, enabling the team to achieve business commitments for an organization of ~1,000 team members.
Partners with senior Business, as well as, PI and Enterprise Technology leaders to define and evolve integrated Business & Technology Strategies to achieve our long-term objectives.
Continuously consults with senior Business Leaders to influence direction and offer innovative technology solutions to optimally achieve business goals.
Owns the PI Technology Blueprint and Roadmap with tight alignment to the Enterprise Application Strategy.
Actively engages in the Solution & Application Architecture definition across PI and related Enterprise Value streams
Proactively identifies / resolves complex and cross organizational challenges.
Builds sustainable, collaborative relationships across Enterprise technology teams, as well as, negotiates with vendor partners.
Influences the evolution of our Agile delivery model , as well as, adoption of CI/CD processes and transition to a more focused shift-left model.
Accountable for the Technology Innovation architecture and delivery team while removing obstacles and providing escalation path.
Provides direct leadership for an organization of ~35 employees including coaching for performance, individual & team development, as well as, workforce planning.

Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated required. A minimum of 4 years of people management experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated preferred. Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. Strategic leadership experience preferred.

Technical Skills and Competencies
Expertise and practical experience across web, service and messaging based architectures, as well as, developer automation and Cloud based solutions.
Experience with Agile & DevOps methodologies, tools and measurement practices.
Able to evaluate market and industry trends within related technical domains.
Possesses strong analytical skills to effectively create recommendations, influence decision-making, assess impacts, compare solutions, problem solve, and achieve business and/or technical objectives.
Thoroughly understands how overall responsibilities fit within broader technical environment and has strong ability to influence technology recommendations for the enterprise.
Experience leading large scale technology organization and building / leading large teams.
