Job Summary
The Bond & Specialty Insurance Technology organization seeks a talented .NET Software Developer to join our Claim ART (Agile Release Train). You will work on a Feature Team following Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and will be responsible for assisting in the development, maintenance, testing and support of Bond Claim applications. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
You
You are a talented .NET software developer with at least 3+ years of full app/web development lifecycle experience utilizing Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, and SQL Server. You enjoy seeking opportunities to be a technical advocate to develop, design, and influence strategic software applications. You stay on top of the latest technology trends and have a passion for responsive web, web services and API enabled architecture. You also enjoy working as a part of a team in a collaborative environment.

Your Day
As a member of a Feature Team, you will work collaboratively under limited supervision to perform expert programming, configuring, and/or analysis of Claim applications. You will have the autonomy to experiment in the spirit of Agile and Lean - do what works, try new things, and stop doing what doesn't work. Our current tech stack includes VB.NET, C#, HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, WCF, WebAPI, Micro-service architectures, JQuery, SoapUI, JMeter, Node.js, Angular.

Responsibilities include supporting the Feature Team with:
  • System programming and analysis tasks of advanced complexity within multiple systems.
  • Acting as subject matter expert for assigned applications, systems or technologies.
  • Performing complex analysis, assessment, resolution, design, configuration, and programming functions at an expert level.
  • Transforming business specifications and requirements into organized technical activities.
  • Leading investigation and resolution efforts for critical/ high impact defects, problems, and incidents.
  • Collaborating with project team and other key stakeholders to identify, estimate, and prioritize project and/or enhancement activities.
  • Applying knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects and/or enhancements.
  • Managing the effective use of team resources to implement ongoing projects, enhancements, and/or initiatives.
  • Participating in the design/development process.
  • Acting as subject matter expert for assigned applications, systems, and technologies.
  • Leading investigation and resolution efforts for critical/high impact problems, defects and incidents.
  • Providing technical guidance to team members.
  • Building, maintaining, and utilizing partnerships across the enterprise.
  • Ensuring work complies with Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.
  • This job does not lead others.


Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, and five years of programming/development experience.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
6 years of programming/development experience preferred.

Environmental/Work Schedules/Other
Requires weekend work hours. Requires overnight work hours. Requires holiday work hours (Federal and religious). Requires extended periods (1 or more weeks) of travel as needed. Requires travel up to 5% of time.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced programming experience with VB.NET, C#, HTML, CSS3, JavaScript and ASP.NET MVC
  • Advanced experience with SQL Server design concepts and development
  • Advanced web services development using WCF, WebAPI and Micro-service architectures
  • Proficiency with test driven development using MSTest, NUnit and/or XUnit
  • Experience with web based frameworks: JQuery, Node.js, or Angular
  • Experience with source control practices leveraging SVN, Team Foundation or similar
  • Experience with trunk based development, continuous integration/continuous delivery
  • Conceptual understanding or proficiency with Domain Driven Design
  • Experience working in an Agile Team environment
  • Experience with .Net Core
  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry
  • Experience with Java
