Job Overview

The objective of this job is to support data initiatives for the business.This job will focus on running tasks and projects to ensure that data quality and completeness of business transactions meet requirements of the client, operations and accounting needs. Build necessary reports and dashboards to measure business health and performance on sales, operations and accounting for clients and internal managers.

Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Execute projects/requests around data quality (60%)

Responsible for:

  • Proactive analysis of data inconsistencies in the system and manage resolution through writing requirements, testing and rollout
  • Develop different financial models to provide necessary CBAs and operational impact from new clients to assist in business decisions
  • Development or modification of data models to solve complex problems
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Service teams to build data strategy for the organization from data quality, risk and customer service perspective
  • Provide data expertise on projects impacting data. Review requirements for data consistency and quality
  • Perform adhoc data analysis on client or business problem
  • Analyze reporting needs and create reports and dashboards
  • Provide support to the business on SQL, reporting and PowerBI

Recommend and drive timely actions (20%)

  • Take full ownership of the business problem and its impact.
  • Design and manage periodic meetings/reporting to discuss exceptions and next actions.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve exceptions discovered and escalate as needed.
  • Implement reporting and processes to mitigate reporting risk due to manual or inconsistent client data processes

SME (20%)

Serve as subject matter expert and perform responsibilities to increase the overall effectiveness of the team:

  • Review team deliverables for accuracy and thoroughness from junior data analysts.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for functional areas and clients on Data.
  • Work with manager on defining best practices and processes for the team deliverables.
  • Identify project requirements by coordinating activities with team sponsors, directing team members, interviewing customers, and determining project scope, developing project specifications, testing, and documenting results

Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • BS Degree in Statistics, Computer Science or Data Analytics or equivalent experience
  • 6-7 years of prior data and/or business analysis experience as data or reporting analyst with SQL and Power BI or any other business analytics tool experience

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Individual contributor with leadership skills to drive actions
  • Strong analytical skills, with an interest and ability to understand and use Data reconciliation and analytics processes
  • Passion for connecting the dots ( Data to the Bottom line )
  • Prior experience working as Data/Business Analyst in risk, accounting or finance domain is a plus
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide recommendations
  • Ability to collaborate within and outside of the team
  • Ability to deliver results with minimum supervision
  • Ability to think innovatively
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Make sound decisions with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical skills, with an interest and ability to understand and use Data quality and analytics processes
  • Knowledge of data models and query tools
  • Ability to create information out of raw data
  • Ability to write Data Definition Language or Data Manipulation Language SQL commands
  • Ability to improve data quality and design or present conclusions gained from analyzing data using statistical tools like Microsoft Excel, SAS, SPSSand others
  • Ability to create process/work flows
