Job Summary
Program Goal: Provide program participants a broad experience and relevant exposure opportunities to the various components of the Travelers business intelligence community. There is a strong recommendation for participants to participate in different experiences and roles offered throughout the program to satisfy graduation requirements. As a geospatial participant, you'll create, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support business needs. Geospatial Participants can range in a number of experiences at Travelers that can develop knowledge of geographic information science and technology, statistics, spatial thinking, remote sensing, location intelligence issues, and the social and physical sciences to characterize events, discover relationships and trends. This is a developmental position with a tailored multi-year curriculum. Positions within this family work with business customers to determine how Business Intelligence information and analytic solutions can be leveraged to support business strategies, capabilities, and processes. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Contributes to the team with knowledge of Geospatial and GIS concepts and experience while using a combination of spatial software and analytical methods to assist internal clients and leaders in making strategic decisions, reducing risks, increasing efficiency, and realizing organizational goals. Programs, obtains, processes, analyzes and formats vector and raster datasets preparing input data for various natural hazard models, or post-processing model output to develop maps. Candidates should have proficiency with basic GIS concepts for data downloading, reviewing and compiling, metadata creation and editing, as well as spatial analysis to generate new data sets. Contributes to the design, development, and maintenance of spatial analysis reporting that aids in quantifying and assessing natural perils and estimates of future property loss. Participants could experience higher volumes for web application development as a first-responder to catastrophic events (CATs). Participates and aids in program events and initiatives, which may include; Completes tailored 1st Year Experience Training (Business Acumen, Insurance Acumen, Technical & Analytic Expertise, Leadership Readiness) Recruiting visits that could occur outside core business hours for branding Travelers as employer of choice (Intern Info Sessions, School Visits, Career Fairs) Participants may own school relationship between school and program while also participating in talent selection for on campus interviews. Leads planning committees for the Summer Intern Experience; Facilitates Intern Onboarding & Orientation, Prepares executives for Intern Speaker Series, Spearheads coordination of End of Summer Intern Presentations. Ad hoc Business Intelligence & Analytics Community initiatives such as; Town Hall coordination, eForums, internal conferences, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a Geography based or a related field, or a minor in a Geography based or a related field is required. Previous experience/literacy in ESRI ArcGIS product suite is required. Understanding of geospatial concepts and map projections are required. Geocoding and geoprocessing experience with a basic understanding on how to create spatial data is required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Masters of Geography or Geographic Information Systems/Science (GIS) preferred. Previous geospatial internship preferred. Knowledge of use cases for Python programming within GIS skillset is preferred. Previous web application development experience preferred. Understanding of REST (restful end state transfer) architecture preferred.

Travel - Occasionally Incumbents would be expected to travel for training or recruiting up to 5% of time.
