Job Description
Allstate is currently looking to hire an experienced Software Engineer to join the Research and Development team. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative applications for a full variety of businesses, from the Agency channel, to the Claims team, to completely new markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Significantly contributes to the development of applications that test solutions for a business problem or create a new product or service that aligns to our corporate goals.
- Significantly contributes to all phases in building new digital products, including programming, defect correction, unit testing, code review and deployment planning.
- Participates on a small team using agile development best practices (Scrum/Paired programming).
- Contributes to a small team through the entire software development lifecycle.
- Application monitoring and support asneeded
- Provides expertise on cutting edge technologies and frameworks.
- Collaborates with nontechnical business-side members to define user requirements, investigate feasibility, iteratively build proof-of-concepts and ultimately present results.
- Provides estimates for the work plan.
- Assists in producing lightweight technical designs.
- Suggests technologydriven features that may enhance the solution.
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of handson application development experience.
- Proficient in fullstack web development (JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3) using front-end frameworks (ReactJS, AngularJS) and backend frameworks Java (SpringBoot).
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in small team setting.
- Up to date on web development security standards (OWASP).
- Strong understanding for testing methodologies such as unittesting, functional testing and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience in mobile development IDEs (Android Studio, XCode) a plus.
- Experience applying machine learning solutions (Python) a plus.
- insurance industry experience a plus.
The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
