ARS Data Analytics organization is responsible for building Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence solutions/capabilities and contributing to Roadside Services Business objectives by identifying and developing growth and profitability opportunities that enable Allstate Roadside Services to generate profitable market share growth. Turn data into actionable insights and improve business performance. Identify the highest-value opportunities, source the most relevant & trusted data, apply world-class analytics and modeling, and drive data driven decisions across ARS business units. ARS Analytics & Insights team embraces three key, interdependent components; Data, Analytics, and Insights that will make ARS drive better business decisions. The ARS Analytics & Insights team is responsible for performing extensive data analysis including; ARS data comprehension, collect data, describe data, explore data, and deriving the right insights. The core functions of ARS Analytics & Insights team are 1) Understand what the real business problem is, 2) Create an analytic plan with hypotheses, 3) Collect data, 4) Gather insights, and 5) Make recommendations.Job Description
The Data Analytics Consultant is responsible for conceptualizing the cutting edge analytical approaches, executing the high-volume complex advanced analytics services on an ongoing basis and developing the reusable solutions. The Data Analytics Consultant needs to identify all of the possible data points to analyze and drive insights. Be a subject matter expert for assigned business unit and provide advice to business partners on the effective use of data and insights to make better business decisions. The Data Analytics Consultant is also responsible for identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets. The Data Analytics Consultant will ensure a proper understanding of the customer problem and the questions that need to be answered using data in order for a customer project to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business users and analyze the data and report on provider network severity, call acceptance, call center performance, partner reporting, marketing channel effectiveness, sales analysis, customer experience, and processing the claims
- Perform an enablement role to facilitate data scientists in locating, understanding and selecting the appropriate ARS data. Work with data scientists to identify data needs, sources, and structure to support client issues
- Deliver client analytics projects as part of broader team of data scientists and industry/solution professionals by working with the appropriate technical resources to transform client problems into technical problems
- Translate business requirements and unstructured business issues into data analytic problems
- Collaborate with business users to develop, build, and implement the well governed and structured reporting capabilities for Allstate Partners, Agents, and Consumers
- Maintain deep business domain expertise in the use of data sources and applications to conduct research and gather the business data & analytical requirements, research data, and perform data preparation
- Manage data as a strategic asset by ensuring team provides trusted, secure, quality data
- Troubleshoot data quality issues - identifying root cause/system & documentation/communication of resolution
- Create and maintain excellent data documentation that allows the data to be understood (Metadata) and leveraged for additional use. Create best practices for testing/profiling of data to ensure proper operation and accuracy Effectively communicate technical analyses and results to analytics leaders
Job Qualifications

Minimum five years of data analytics experience in an insurance services firm or similar environment
Bachelor’s or Masters/MBA in a field such as Math, Business, Computer Science or Data Architecture
- Detailed knowledge of Roadside Network Operations in Insurance industry and a strong understanding of business processes, including business operations, business delivery models and business revenue models
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical data analysis results to business people and business processes, challenges and issues to technical people Advanced data management, quality assurance and data flow skills Experience using Python, SAS, R, SPSS or other programming language. Good knowledge with Oracle PL/SQL and MSSQL (T-SQL) queries Good Knowledge of database client software (i.e. TOAD, SQL+, SQL Developer) Experience in data extraction, data manipulation, analysis and reporting required.
- Experience in dashboard design and development preferred.
- Working knowledge of relational databases required.
- Experience with BI tool such as Business Objects and Tableau.
- Microsoft Office experience required
- Experience working with distributed computing tools such as Hadoop and MapReduce to analyze data preferred.
