Job Description
The Allstate Roadside Services (ARS) Organization is looking for a passionate API Evangelist to drive the Award-winning ARS API Ecosystem that delivers Rescue as a Service to the market. Responsibilities include technical leadership and management of the API team. Provide guidance for the API delivery and governance teams to ensure compliance with existing Architecture Standards, customer requirements, and governance policies, as well as communication across the organization. In addition, the API Evangelist will be responsible in delivering a best in class developer experience for consumers of the API. This includes being the lead developer advocate and leading developer advocate activities in the sandbox supporting developers consuming the APIs to deliver Rescue as a Service to the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a diverse team of innovative technologist delivering the ARS API Ecosystem to the industry
- Build and promote the ARS API Brand by promoting the APIs to the industry and perspective partners
- Drive the API First strategy for ARS while working with broader Allstate API initiatives
- Work with engineering and architecture leadership to define platform capabilities
- Collaborate with the multiple functional teams in ARS and Allstate to deliver the platform services
- Analyzes and defines API Evangelist requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, platform environment, software, and system interfaces
- Contributes to the conceptual and physical design of application integration using APIs and events
- Reviews and approves detailed API designs produced by Solution Engineers
- Ensures the architectural integrity of API centric projects and solutions
- Provides strategic thought on adoption and implementation of Apigee best practices within the context of ABLE and Allstate environment
- Effectively communicates and shares Apigee API management knowledge to support API Products Teams
- Operates equally comfortably within agile or waterfall environments
- Works with API Product Teams to analyze and understand enterprise business drivers to determine integration architecture requirements
- Evaluates, recommends, and justifies technical scope and direction changes during Planning and Design phases
- Establishes and documents full lifecycle API management standards and best practices
- Guides API Product teams in the application of best practices with API management tools
Job Qualifications
- Must have launched and managed at least one well-established API Developer Program
- 4 years’ experience in managing and publishing API developer portals.
- 4+ years’ experience working with API management tools such as APIGEE or similar products
- 4+ years of deep experience in API strategy formulation and alignment with business and product needs
- 4+ In-depth Experience in managing API programs/partnerships and developer interactions
- Deep knowledge of and demonstrable history of success implementing Apigee based solutions, standards, and best practices
- Ability to evaluate information quickly, identify key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgment, experience, and common sense
- A high-energy, expert communicator to both technical and non-technical team members, brimming with positive, proactive energy
- An effective manager with the desire to cultivate leadership and high performance in the team you lead
- A data-driven decision maker who blends sound business judgment with strong analytical thinking
- Incredibly focused and attentive to detail, even while working in a very fast-paced environment
