Associate Copywriter: Writers at Allstate are agile conceptual thinkers and storytellers with experience serving as brand stewards for national brands. Our copywriters work directly with multiple teams on projects ranging from integrated advertising campaigns, to product and brand launches, to longform printed material, social and digital content. This role partners with Designers and Art Director to create engaging content across multiple channels on the brands they’re assigned. They will follow work from concept to execution, often working collaboratively between multiple offices/regions (Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Silicon Valley) and aligning with their COE and business partners.

Team Summary: The Allstate Creative team serves the entire enterprise, including Allstate Insurance, Esurance, SquareTrade, InfoArmor, Arity and other innovation-oriented emerging businesses that are part of this growing portfolio. The Allstate Creative team includes several Areas of Responsibility, including: Design, Advertising, Content, User Experience Design, Technology, and the Production Studio. These teams provide creative solutions across the enterprise to accelerate creativity, innovation and business growth.

Job Description

The Associate Copywriter is responsible for management and execution of creative content for the company while delivering aesthetics, experience design and brand storytelling across the enterprise. This requires the ability to apply business knowledge, data and consumer insights to creative solutions that deliver results. The Senior Copywriter will lead all content writing across enterprise brands. The new Copywriter will oversee all projects and programs related to content writing in support of Integrated Marketing Services, bringing brand storytelling to technology, business strategy and digital innovation.

  • May manage a team
  • Creative writing and editing; brings strategy to life in fresh and unexpected ways, and is ready and able to go beyond the brief
  • Build business knowledge and partnerships; makes it their business to know the business and the category
  • Develop clear, concise and convincing ideas to bring forward to the business
  • Project Management; meets all deadlines with work that consistently exceeds expectations
  • Build and maintain relationships; has a respectful and partnering relationship with all teams within the group account, strategy, project management, design, studio production, photography, retouching, digital, social, etc.
  • Sustain a knowledge of industry trends and technologies and organizational relationships
  • Partnership with Account Management, Strategy and Insights, and Project management

  • Regular contact with our key business partners (Marketing and Product Development Teams), Internal and External Relationships
  • Frequent partnership with internal and external creative partners and suppliers such as design studios, designers, illustrators, photographers, directors, producers, developers, printers, etc.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with English/Journalism and/or advertising focus
  • Highly committed individual will have minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Copywriter, preferably within an advertising agency or in-house creative department
  • Strong creative and conceptual vision, with the ability to approach every assignment with a fresh perspective
  • While experience in the insurance industry is not required, experience in financial, tech, or innovation-forward industries is a plus.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates writing and creative ability
  • Knowledge of print, broadcast/video and digital production process; skilled in providing direction across channels and driving to project completion
  • Possess solid communication, software proficiency and presentation skills

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
