Job Description
The Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer will be assisting in the research, admininstration, and maintenance of new or existing network hardware and software technology components. The NOC Engineer utilizes systems, scripting, and developer skills to execute on tasks related to hardware and software technology component analysis, integration, and incident and problem resolution. The role also recommends changes to the configuration management plan and will report back on missing or erroneous information.
The NOC Engineer has knowledge in either enterprise UNIX, Windows, VMware or Storage technologies including NAS, SAN, Windows Server 2012/2016, RedHat 5-8. This person comprehends associated standards and can apply them in support of business needs within the Allstate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Windows, UNIX, HDS, and Rubrik enterprise-class platforms
- Support healthy software development practices, including complying with the chosen software development methodology
- Assist in applying software engineering practices to operations at scale
- Provide feedback to Lead Consultants in the form of regular meetings, problem records documenting areas of improvements, and presenting back opportunities to improve availability and performance
- Work with Lead Consultants to onboard technology including resiliency, alerting, availability, and platform performance
- Use existing tools and leverage open source solutions to automate tasks with an emphasis on scalability and reliability
- Assist in creating automation that remediates areas of concern within the system we support
- Provide feedback to the technical leaders for the department focusing on strategy, service integration, monitoring, documentation, and Automation opportunities
- Supports a continuous improvement mindset with the team, embracing a DevOps culture and constantly finding ways to make our systems more reliable
- Learn supported technology integration with focus on service improvement to help grow to the next level
- Monitor key performance indicators to ensure risks are being managed and to help avoid future impact using Data analytics and AIOP’s
- Work with Lead Consultants and global teams when troubleshooting incidents
- Support all technology stacks working Incident and Problem Records received/created within the NOC
Job Qualifications
Work Schedule: Weekend Shift Thursday-Sunday 9AM-7PM
Education: BS in Computer Science, or related technical field involving coding or equivalent technical experience
1-3 years of experience with enterprise systems and or Automation (nice to have)

- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of Linux Red Hat RHEL 5.7 or Oracle Linux 5.6, 6.X , 7X, 8, LVM, VERITAS (Cluster Services, File system, Volume manager), Oracle and HP Blades Hardware knowledge’, and Unified Computing Systems (UCS) hardware knowledge.

Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of and understand SAN and NAS Storage systems in the following areas:
- SAN Strage Arrays: HDS VSP, EMC VMAX 40K
- SAN Switches: Brocade DCX/DCX4-S, Brocade 5100, Brocade 7800
- SAN Management: Hitachi Dynamic Tiering, Hitachi Cmmand
- NAS Strage; NetApp FAS3260, NetApp FAS6240, Oracle ZFS-SA 7420
- NAS Replicatin: NetApp SnapMirror, NetApp SnapVault
- NAS Management: OnCmmand v2EMC Atmos (hardware)
Job Qualifications (Cont'd)
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of and understand Windows and VMWare systems
- Familiarity with data protection technologies, including backup and antivirus systems.
- Core Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WINS, IIS).
- Familiarity with HP ProLiant rackmount servers and HP ProLiant blade servers.
- VMware VCPDCV and Microsoft server certifications (MCSE/MCSA/MCITP) a plus
- Experience with programming languages, (Power shell, Python, or Groovy)
- Experience building and sustaining interconnected production services with APIs
- Experience with IT infrastructure DevOps tools such as, JSON, VXML, GitHub, Ansible, & Jenkins
