Job Description

Encompass is a growing, $1B+ business that is part of the Allstate Corporation. Encompass sells and services personal insurance products exclusively through independent agencies.

Encompass Product Operations is seeking a collaborative, innovative, analytical problem-solver with the technical ability to apply quantitative skills to develop business intelligence (BI) solutions to enable data-based decision making. This role provides technical analysis, design, and build services for reporting and analytic tools and data support to the Encompass organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with data managers and internal Allstate/Encompass clients, including Encompass Product Operations, the Encompass Underwriting, Encompass Countrywide Risk Management, Encompass Pricing, and Encompass Finance
  • Design, build and modify reporting and analytic tools and related data ETL processes
  • Evaluate requirements and advise on technology solution options
  • Advise Developers & Business Analysts on ad hoc queries
  • Complete assigned regulatory data calls for Encompass companies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues with systems and reporting tools
  • Act as liaison between IT and the business, translating business requirements to technical resources and translating technical documentation into terminology & language understood by the business

  • Provide research, analysis, high-level design and estimates for data transformation from front end sources to end-user BI solutions
  • Consult with Developers on technical specifications modifying our data lake and end-user BI solutions to ensure accuracy and usability
  • Support Data Governance Processes through Metadata documentation and data quality investigations
  • Consult during BI tools reviews & provide recommendations
  • Support in technical conversations with our technology partners outside of team
  • Train Business Analysts & Developers on technical aspects of BI

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced SQL skills and understanding of multi-dimensional and relational database data organization concepts
  • 5 years experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analysis or technology related field preferred
  • Advanced Business Intelligence Tool skills with tools like Business Objects
  • Advanced ETL skills with tools such as SQL Server Information Services (SSIS)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and team skills including working with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Big data (ex. Hadoop) experience preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance pricing, rating plan design and insurance product offerings preferred
  • Programming experience preferred
