Job Family Summary
The Technician family within the Product Operations department works closely with actuarial, quantitative analysts, underwriting and coverage consultants to develop, analyze, and implement needed price and underwriting changes in Allstate’s various lines of business. Responsibilities include interfacing with the different business units as well as internal customers in areas such as Technology, State Filings, other teams within Product Operations, as well as state Departments of Insurance.
Job Description
The Technician Team Leader I is responsible for managing and leading Technicians and providing oversight of projects of all levels of complexity as well as developing solutions of moderately to highly complex business problems and business unit issues. This individual will also serve as a point of contact and escalation for needs of members outside of the team.
Key Responsibilities
People Management –- Front-line leader position responsible for Product Operations pricing execution work performed by a team or their direct reports Assesses resource needs including skills and training requirements (when leading project teams and/or managing direct reports) with guidance from senior leaders and with a proactive view of work in the pipeline as well as the flow of run the business work.
- Supports and executes performance management and development plans for all of their direct reports with an emphasis on anticipating the need to build Product expertise
- Provides general training and development to technicians on the team; establishes comprehensive development plans and job profiles
- Responsible for participating in recruiting processes to ensure that individuals with the appropriate qualifications and skills are hired

Plans, implements, manages, sponsors and/or contributes on Product Operations priorities using accepted project management standards
- Forecasts short-term and long-term pricing deliverables through work with regional partners and territory portfolio managers
- Communicates and presents project information as needed to inform and escalate to leadership
- Ensures project controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure quality in a high volume environment
- Assists in determining where additional resources/ expertise may be necessary to successfully complete projects/ assignments
- Determines the integration and delivery of planned changes/ projects/products to regions/ field
- Adheres to internal and external compliance requirements/standards
- Functions as a liaison between business unit and systems or other areas of responsibility as required based on the projects they are assigned to Serves as a subject matter expert for pricing from an internal perspective

Process Improvement/Innovation -- Supports and/or leads the development/design of new rating plans, programs, processes, products of moderate to high complexity
- Establishes and evaluates procedures and processes regularly and determines/ recommends alternatives or improvements
- Develops communication strategies and materials to support new plans, programs, processes, products
- Solicits inputs from key stakeholders
Leadership/Right Environment -
- Actively shares expertise among peer and other disciplines
- Actively builds strong relationships among teams and team members to ensure cooperation on project objectives
- Provides feedback on project team member(s) that contributes to performance management
- Trains/coaches team members or peers
Job Qualifications
- Education: College degree preferred
- Experience: 3-5 years of related experience; insurance and/or pricing knowledge and experience in P&C industry is preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Advanced knowledge in the use of data sources and applications to conduct research
- Strong data analysis and data review skills
- Excellent attention to detail; can identify and resolve basic to moderately complex data issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels High level organizational and project management skills in order to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner Strong decision making skills
- Leadership skills focusing on people and process change Works effectively in a team environment
