What does a SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST do?

  • Providing thoughtful perspective and appropriate direction for issues regarding organizational development, change management and succession planning
  • Advise management on federal and state employment law compliance
  • Support company departments in disciplinary actions and decisions in compliance with law and Company policies
  • Assisting in the delivery, collection and assessment of annual and mid-year employee performance evaluations

Coordinate on-going HR projects including:

  • Compensation and pay grade grades analysis and updates
  • Reporting monthly headcount and turnover analysis
  • Job description development
  • Assisting in coordination of the annual employee engagement survey
  • Participating in special projects and coordinating company events

Support company employees by providing coaching and counseling on how to improve individual performance and career development by:

  • Providing guidance on the interpretation of HR policies and procedures as they relate to individuals and company objectives
  • Assisting in gathering information relating to general factors that affect worker morale, motivation and efficiency
  • Conducting exit interviews

Responsible for the coordination of on-boarding new employees, processing changes of existing employees and processing terminations including:

  • Processing the background and drug screening applications and communicating the results to appropriate parties
  • Communicating new hire status updates to hiring managers, HR team members and Training Department
  • Communicating new hire information, changes to existing employees and terminated employees to Payroll
  • Assisting in the coordination and execution of New Hire Orientation
  • Conducting exit interviews
  • Maintains employee information by entering and updating HR records information, providing regular input to payroll department as required, providing accuracy and completeness of time and attendance reporting, and maintaining required documentation/files in a confidential manner at all times

Responsible for Employee Benefits activities:

  • Conducting Open Enrollment and other informational meetings
  • Act as primary contact on leave of absence and disability programs while ensuring compliance with company and government regulations
  • Administer employee benefits and certain incentive plans and programs by complying with requirements of existing programs and by overseeing the processing of regional enrollments, changes, terminations and COBRA
  • Ensures regional compliance with State and Federal law by coordinating Worker’s Compensation reporting, complaint reporting and assisting with investigations as required
  • Familiarity with and compliance steps for OSHA, FMLA, TWC, and similar state agencies, EEOC, ERISA, HIPPA, ADEA, ADA compensation and employee status

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Reconciling invoices and submitting for payment
  • Provide administrative, research and other assistance as needed to provide relief or overflow work for other HR team members

What is required?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Professional designation of PHR or SPHR highly preferred, or evidence of equivalency

Experience:

  • 5-7 years general HR experience
  • Active employee relations involvement with managers and employees
  • Benefits administration
  • Experience with compensation and the recruiting and selection process
  • Knowledge or all Federal and State laws as they apply to Human Resources

Other skills and abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to manage time while prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) beneficial
