Business Systems Quality Control Analyst I

Job Purpose

This junior level professional position is responsible for supporting business efforts by testing system enhancements, providing system support to other business groups, and auditing system functionality for accuracy. Preferential applicants have backgrounds in software testing, or related system analysis experience.

Essential Job Functions

Testing:

  • Planning and executing test case sets on systems and in house applications.
  • Manual and automated testing of system changes for enhancements, product revisions, and new quoting platforms to verify functionality is inline with business requirements.
  • Auditing system functionality to ensure business compliance and identify defects.
  • May document, monitor and coordinate resolution of test issues per established processes.

Technical Resource:

  • Provides system support for internal users.
  • Serves as a resource for system issues and problem solving and/or escalates as necessary.
  • May serve as a resource related to multiple system applications or business processes.
Job Qualifications
  • Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. JIRA or other Atlassian software preferred.
  • History of high performance in manual software testing and software help desk preferred.
  • Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance industry preferred.
  • Experience with SQL or other query language preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills along with ability to self-direct and work with minimum supervision strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of vendor and/or internally developed systems. Knowledge of system interfaces, user functionality and various system environments strongly preferred.
  • Ability to use reporting tools to run reports.
  • Familiarity with business area processes and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, participate in meetings, basic documentation and may prepare/contribute to system support recommendations.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to multitask, set priorities, follow up on open items, and attention to detail. Strong proofreading skills preferred.
  • Ability to work with and protect highly confidential information.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business related discipline such as computer science, information systems, or risk management.
  • In lieu of a degree, must have 2 years of related work experience in a professional business or technical role.
  • Preferred applicants will have experience in a quality assurance/control role or a similar analytical role.
