How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced community relations professional to expand his or her skill set in a dynamic corporate setting. This employee will be responsible for Brighthouse Financial’s Foundation startup and community impact strategy. The successful candidate will provide strategic, proactive consultation on (i) community outreach and volunteer activities, (ii) charitable contributions and fundraising initiatives, and (iii) brand awareness opportunities to promote the company’s corporate image and support community impact initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with the Brighthouse Foundation president to ensure success and diligence of all rules, regulations and requirements
  • Manage the grant process for the Brighthouse Financial (BHF) Foundation
  • Ensure that the Foundation mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach initiatives
  • Manage annual budget and monthly/quarterly/year-end financial statements, which accurately reflect the financials of the Foundation
  • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions, including preparation and presentation of grant requests at board meetings
  • Point of contact for funding requests and volunteer activities from conception to launch including funding approval, communications, event planning, speaker management, and onsite support.
  • Oversight of vendor relationships that support the Foundation and associate engagement in community/non-profit volunteer events
  • Conduct due diligence processes, tracking, and impact analyses for all community relations activity
  • Lead and motivate project team members that are not direct reports that may span multiple functions and provides guidance to lower level staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in foundation oversight, grant and non-profit review
  • Results orientated team player. Emphasis on communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Strong quantitative and computer skills, specifically advanced Excel modeling.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Ability to plan and manage work under time constraints
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours when needed
  • Ability to lead and manage others in small to intermediate projects without supervision and complex projects with minimal supervision
  • Five or more years nonprofit management experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
