Job Description
The Content Writer position requires a versatile set of contemporary storytelling and writing skills. This role supports and coordinates various communication and strategy tactics and messaging that drive our transformation strategy, engage our employees and define our culture.
The Content Writer will develop and execute content, strategies and tactics that amplify the company’s key technology transformation messages and create broader, positive awareness of our initiatives and outreach campaigns through expanded utilization of many digital media channels.
This opportunity is at Allstate’s Chicago office at the Merchandise Mart.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategically conceive, write and execute a wide-range of communication solutions in support of the Allstate technology organization of about 7,000 people worldwide.
- Coordinate communication aspects for digital and analog production from intake through completion including scheduling, detailed storyboarding and post production. This Content Writer will have experience in developing and establishing a brand voice and driving engagement through captivating written content.
- Provide seasoned, best-practices written expertise to business partners enterprise-wide on solutions for communications and resources available to create change among internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Allstate technology leadership to better the enterprise-wide user experience of online platforms.
- Support manager with additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Develop strong, trusting relationships between clients and agency partners, providing leadership and support during strategy, ideation, and execution
- Manage client expectations, bringing issues/concerns to clients' attention before they become problems, offering potential solutions, and advising of potential delivery delays

- Experienced written storytelling or journalism standards that deliver desired results and reflect best practices.
- Experience developing multimedia corporate communications or related professional experience with heavy emphasis on integration and communication with varied audiences required using various communication means.
- Experienced with written narrative, in both long & short form, through ongoing collaboration based on data and other input provided by the team.
- Able to connect ideas from cultural trends to drive innovative communication engagement
- Experience in projecting a brand voice for high-profile brand preferred.
- Able to leverage multimedia storytelling techniques that will contribute to and elevate the delivery of the content in partnership with the Creative team, including photography, video, audio, etc.
- Experience in copy editing, headline writing, caption writing for print, digital, and social media
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign a bonus.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office & Teams environment.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that foster collaboration and teamwork.
- Strong creative storytelling skills and the ability to analyze and integrate both client expectations and audience needs into an effective deliverable.
- Knows social media platforms.
- Dynamic self-starter, highly motivated, comfortable in taking initiative, and able to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, organize and multi-task.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
Business Acumen: Knowledge of the insurance and financial services industry with special emphasis on Allstate’s technology organization.
Communication Strategy and Planning: Includes experience with setting objectives, developing long and short-range plans, measurement and analysis, identifying issues and risks, change management that aligns with our strategic vision and priorities.

Counseling: Experience identifying and recommends opportunities for client, proposes and probes implications of alternative strategies.
Client Interaction: Serves as a liaison between internal client or stakeholder and department. Maintains balance between client interests and company interests.
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, digital media strategy, corporate communications or related field
Required
4-6 years of experience in digital media strategy or corporate communications
Desired
- MBA or Master’s degree in related field
- Consulting Experience
