Job Details

The primary focus of the Sr, Project Manager is to manage strategic and software development initiatives with IT and functional areas across multiple sites and large scale teams of 20 or more individuals.

Responsibilities

Best Practice Adherence (20%)

The demonstrated ability to effectively

  • Lead large projects from start to finish with minimal guidance and manage high risk project activities
  • Understand and comply with established corporate and IT standards and methodologies.
  • Learn to use the company standard project management tools.
  • Ensure required project documentation is prepared according to the current methodology
  • Apply best practice approaches toward the management of project risk and risk mitigation
  • Practice and mentor others in project management, team leadership, coaching and other disciplines inherent to project management
  • Partner with the business by gaining a deeper understanding of their needs and proving our value by providing optimum solutions that go above and beyond client, customer and associate expectations
  • Apply and mentor others on the use of corporate standard project management tools and methodologies

Organization, Communication and Prioritization (30%)

The demonstrated ability to effectively

  • Handle multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time and other resources effectively.
  • Demonstrate timely escalation of issues or non-compliance to project methodology (for example, estimating the project).
  • Facilitate team participation, conflict resolution and consensus building
  • Build rapport with and among all project stakeholders and instill confidence in the ability to add value and meet identified needs
  • Strengthen relationships with business partners and customers by fostering a culture of continuous exchange of innovative solutions
  • Communicate effectively with customers and actively seek alignment with expectations on all aspects of project execution
  • Respond effectively to customer inquiries and requests and seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction

Project Management Effectiveness (30%)

The demonstrated ability to effectively:

  • Organize and lead cross functional project teams of various size and scope, including cross-site teams
  • Develop, review and approve plans for completing project deliverables, including scheduling and coordinating activities of project team members
  • Ensure the project plan, scope, work breakdown structure, schedule, risk, budget, and deliverables are in alignment with the project goals and objectives
  • Review and approve milestone deliverables for presentation to the customer and other project stakeholders
  • Ensure that a solid approach is used to track issues and their resolution throughout the life-cycle of the project
  • Promote the use of effective change control techniques to manage adjustments to documented requirements
  • Ensure project change is fully and effectively integrated within impacted business unit
  • Facilitate and/or initiate post-implementation project reviews; document best practices and lessons learned for project archives

Operational Excellence (20%)

  • Identify, plan, and implement opportunities for operational improvements within the Project Management Office
  • Direct the development and implementation of metrics and measures for process and application monitoring and improvement
  • Responsible for orchestrating the work of others to successfully deliver projects
  • Responsible for monitoring, tracking, and reporting on financial activity related to their projects.

Requirements
  • The proven ability to independently manage large scale, large budget projects with medium to high complexity while managing teams up to 20+ associates
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience leading a variety of projects and programs - $ and people
  • Mortgage or insurance industry experience a plus
  • Experience managing client implementation projects a plus
  • The understanding and application of the PMBOK knowledge areas and key processes; apply knowledge of industry practices and trends
  • Ability to perform duties under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, high volume, office work environment
  • Requires excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to manage communication with project or program stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability in leading cross functional teams and promoting collaboration and teamwork
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Microsoft Project experience preferred
  • Local candidates are preferred
  • Agile or Scrum methodologies a plus
  • Experience with ServiceNow (or other enterprise Project & Portfolio Management tools) helpful
