Job Description
The Remote Attorney will be expected to handle a full pending of cases comparable to the file load of an office based attorney.
Key Responsibilities
o The Remote Attorney will be affiliated with an Allstate Staff Counsel office but the Remote Attorney will not have a physical office in the staff counsel location.
o The Remote Attorney's equipment will be set up in the home of the Remote Attorney.
o The Remote Attorney will be provided with the necessary equipment and supplies to handle cases remotely.
o Remote attorneys and other workers will have regular work schedules agreed upon with their managers and must be accessible during those hours.
o Home based workers and Remote Attorneys may be required to attend on-site events in an Allstate office that are necessary for the completion of their job responsibilities, including but not limited to, training, meetings, conferences, performance management conversations, etc.
o The Remote Attorney will be available during regular office hours to participate in meetings, cover court appearances or travel to the Staff Counsel Office as required.

o The Remote Attorney will devote 100% of their time during office hours to their Allstate responsibilities. Arrangements must be made for any obligations (e.g. child care) that would potentially interfere with this responsibility.
o The performance standards for the Remote Attorneys and home based employees will be consistent with the performance standards for an office based attorney.
Represents Allstate in pursuit of subrogation claims and lawsuits.
• Assess liability and damages and develop defenses to allegations and/or pursuit of Subrogation for a successful resolution of cases.
• Effectively negotiate settlements including all aspects of liability and damages
• Attend hearings and conduct trials
• Argue motions; take effective depositions of lay and expert witnesses

• Consult with clients and opposing counsel and the judiciary
• Coordinate the case handling with claims personnel
• Complete necessary system documentation
• Assist other attorneys in resolving calendar conflicts
Job Qualifications
• Subrogation experience is preferred, with flexibility to work across several disciplines that may include SIU, PIP and UM
• Up to five years Insurance Defense, Subrogation and/or Personal Injury experience
• Juris Doctorate degree and member in good standing of Indiana State Bar
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Lexis, and the internet
• Ability to work well with others on a team of attorneys, paralegals, administrative assistants, supervised by an attorney Lead Counsel
• Proven time management skills including ability to handle multiple cases, prioritize and organize, and establish and meet time lines

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation and collaboration skills including the ability to partner with a variety of internal and external contacts as well as for preparing reports, pleadings, and correspondence, etc.
• Independent worker as well as team player to collaborate and work cohesively with a group of attorneys, paralegals, administrative assistants, supervised by Lead Counsel
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
• Effective negotiation skills
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft, LexisNexis (preferred), and the Internet
