Job Description

Achieve strategic objectives and business goals by leading sales-related activity within a market, including but not limited to implementing strategic objectives by effectively consulting with assigned independent agencies, monitoring progress and making appropriate adjustments, and working effectively with peers, Regional Sales Manager and Director, and other internal business units.

The Virtual Sales Consultant is virtual and reports in to the home office sales organization

Key Responsibilities

This individual is responsible for the following:

The ISC supporting the Independent Agency channel is responsible for “owning” the market to which they are assigned and achieving Encompass business objectives - which include but are not limited to - ensuring strategic, long-term profitable growth and increased market share. This will be achieved through:

  • Provide insight as requested to help inform effective regional, market and/or state specific sales programs to drive results
  • Effectively communicate with internal associates and agencies, presenting business cases to influence decision making and business results
  • Creating and tracking performance to a strategic business plan for the market
  • Lead the market distribution channel to maximize areas of opportunity, including identifying and appointing new agencies aligned with the strategy and ending relationships with incumbent agencies who are not aligned with the strategy
  • Installing successful business practices and processes, as requested, through coordination with the Regional and Field Sales Leaders and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with state and Encompass rules, regulations, programs and guidelines

Consulting and Process Support

  • Monitors agency results to the plan, collaborates with Market Territorial Consultant on adjustments where appropriate.
  • Collaborates with IAs for creation of agency-specific short term (1 year) and long term (3 year) strategic business plans, periodically reviews and suggests adjustments as necessary to achieve results
  • Listens to IA primary aims, business goals, and challenges
  • Suggests appropriate marketing programs and processes
  • Performs any callouts to agents verifying and documenting agent licensing.
  • Validates EZLynx credentials working with agent to resolve.

Key Responsibilities (Cont'd)

Driving and Tracking Agency Results

  • Consults with agencies to drive results in order to meet the market production plan
  • Performs daily call outs to agents following up on quote pursuit
  • Performs retention analysis and callouts to agents addressing concerns
  • Provide insight as requested to help inform effective regional, market and/or state specific sales programs to drive results
  • Work with Market Territorial Consultant and cross-functional business partners to develop and implement market-specific sales tactics designed to achieve specific growth and profit goals and targeted business results.

Communication & Relationship Management

  • Acts as an ambassador for Encompass with the agencies, and take ownership of Encompass messages
  • Communicates Encompass messaging on all relevant topics, including business objectives, sales promotions and incentives, compensation and bonus structure, Allstate and Insurance Industry news.
  • Customizes messaging for the specific agency, assesses the implications, and suggests necessary actions

Agency Establishment

  • Agency contact for completion of onboarding paperwork
  • Sets expectation with agency contact regarding onboarding paperwork
  • Validates all paperwork is completed accurately by agent
  • Populates Paperwork within Agency System of Record
  • Works closely with Sales Support Specialist Team

Field Experience and Development

  • Conducts 2 agency ride-alongs with key regional territory sales consultants per quarter
  • Conducts 1 agency ride-alongs with regional sales managers per quarter
  • Works with two mentors, with regular, documented developmental conversations:
  • Encompass territory sales consultant, outside of their assigned region
  • Allstate Independent Agency field sales leader, utside of their assigned region

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 3-5 years business experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in insurance product, sales management
  • Moderate knowledge of the Independent Agency channel, including industry competitors, major brokers and national industry associations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with and influence agency owners, principals and staff; and associates within the internal Encompass organization
  • Excellent communication skills; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Strong general management, analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office products including intermediate skillsets in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Relationship Management skills - Blends people into teams when needed; creates strong morale and spirit, defines success in terms of the whole team; creates a feeling of belonging in the team
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple disciplines
  • Sales skills - knowledge of all aspects of sales process and drivers (examples include: projections, goals, targets, shop, buy, cross-sell, retain, profitability, compliance, quality)
  • Experience in insurance product, sales management or general management
  • Ability to use Allstate technology, a variety of prospecting and quoting systems and to conduct business from a remote location
  • Independent Agency IT Needs – Ability to integrate Comparative Rater, AMS, automated re-quoting systems and processes with Allstate systems
  • Limited travel
