Position Overview:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily functions of the branch processing environment whose main responsibility is to provide high quality service to internal and external customers. Provides guidance to team members in interpreting policy information received and applying premiums and codes necessary for issuing, endorsing, renewing or canceling commercial lines policies according to established procedures and authority.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a liaison with home office/systems in solving processing problems and testing of new rating/entry systems as they become available.
  • Supervises staff and conducts performance evaluations, counsels staff on performance issues, ascertains and implements corrective action when appropriate, encourages personal growth and development of all associates.
  • Effectively utilizes underwriting guides to determine acceptance criteria for endorsements, new business and renewal transactions. This also includes MVR’s, credit information and other routine reports.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with company personnel, agents and vendors to resolve problems and obtain information needed to process policies.
  • Performs quality control checks for team members. Once quality control checks are implemented, identifies training and development needs.
  • Monitors, assigns and processes work within the Branch to ensure that we are effectively servicing the customer and meeting service standards.
  • Work with the Accounting Department to reconcile accounting differences as needed (Agency and Direct Bill)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will have direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complains and resolving problems.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university is required.
  • 3-5 years of Insurance Operations experience is required.
  • Experience in the property and casualty insurance business required.
  • Strong management skills are required along with demonstrated leadership qualities.
