GL Claims Specialist is responsible for the investigation, evaluation and settlement of the most complex General Liability claims. Ensures a quality technical product and delivery of quality customer service.


  • Investigate claims to determine compensability per investigative template
  • Reserve all claims within authority level and prepare request for supervisor review
  • Deliver indemnity and medical benefits to injured workers promptly and efficiently
  • Provide quality customer service
  • Review bills, determine action and process accordingly
  • Recognize SITF and subrogation potential and investigate
  • Take statements, manage litigation processes, and attend hearings and mediations
  • Prepare Large Loss reports and reinsurer reports
  • Review and maintain current diary on all open claims
  • Close or transfer claims in a timely manner
  • Document all investigation and ongoing action in system diary
  • File all state required forms accurately and in a timely manner
  • Attend continuing education programs as appropriate
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent education and experience in Insurance or other related field
  • 10 years of experience processing General Liability claims
  • Knowledge of Construction Defect laws, rules and regulations
  • Strong analytical, decision making and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible and have the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong customer service, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn new software systems and programs
  • Ability to multi-task, plan and focus on detail
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Ability to positively interact with internal and external customers
  • Computer literate; advanced Microsoft Office skills
