Assurant has an opportunity for an experienced Systems Director to support out Global Home Applications. You will have the unique opportunity to guide the Applications Delivery Team to build the best of class systems that will allow our dynamic business to grow!

You will leverage your deep knowledge of distributed and mainframe platforms to influence the business requirements, design architecture and development of new features and functionality to support our business objectives. You will also build and maintain a close working relationship with key stakeholders across the commercial teams as well as other functional areas.

Client and Business Engagements:

• Through a consultative approach, you will need to understand the overall objectives and develop solution that aligns to the client's and Assurant's objectives.
• You will be responsible for engaging with the business to provide expertise, solutions, and assistance for certain projects, clients, prospects, and other significant and strategic opportunities designated as such by the business.
• Consulting with internal and external customers will be key to achieving business objectives goals related to technology solutions.

Other Activities:

• Directs and manages multiple development groups to assure that business objectives are achieved.
• Monitors customer service level standards and solicits feedback regularly to assure customer needs are being met.
• Supports development and implementation of IT’s strategic objectives.
• Monitors projects results and target dates.
• Communicates progress and issues to Sr. Management and customers as needed.
• Enforces and encourages compliance of systems development methodology and deliverables.
• Facilitates and coordinates project prioritization with the impacted functional areas.
• Aligns staff according to skill set and experience to support the IT projects for the business.
• Establishes staff development and cross training programs to improve technical and business knowledge and achieve exceptional results.
• Conducts staff meetings with staff providing frequent feedback on organization’s objectives.
• Communicates and exemplifies the Assurant corporate objectives and values.
• Team Management and Development: Interviews, hires and develops staff. Conducts coaching, performance management activities and annual reviews with direct reports and team.
• Develops budget requirements for responsible cost centers and manages expenses to achieve IT financial objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CS, or related field
• 10+ years of IT experience
• 4+ years of personnel management experience (local and distributed teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Property Insurance experience
• Master’s Degree in CS, CIS, MIS or MBA
