Job Summary

The primary function of this position is to provide architectural guidance, technological recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of initiatives for moderately complex or single projects.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities :
Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving architectural recommendations for Personal Insurance Business Technology. Ensure architectural adherence through solution blueprint and design reviews. Assist in the remediation of application stability and performance issues. Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance. Perform project level design, debug and performance analysis. Responsible for implementing solutions utilizing enterprise application utilities and models and to contribute to best practices and guidelines for supported technologies. Work with vendors and product management areas to establish required infrastructures and frameworks. Provide recommendations for 'Shrink Wrap' solutions to solve business and technical needs. Perform product evaluations, and Proof of Concepts'. Provide architectural strategy and subject matter expertise in the following areas (dependent on knowledge and expertise): Web Technologies Development platforms (Javascript, .NET, C#, Java/J2EE), Software-as-a-service (SaaS) architectures, Cloud platform architectures, legacy development (COM, COBOL, CICS, IMS), working knowledge of Component based, Microservice, and service-based design patterns. Additional assignments may include: Application Integration Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, ETL, RDBMS, Middleware technologies, Document Composition and Forms technologies Document, Imaging and Web Content Management Print technology support Transaction design (OLTP, Batch, etc.), Operating Systems, Office/Productivity Suites, ERP Systems, Performance Engineering, Networking and Telephony concepts.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. 1 year of technology related experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 2 years of technology related experience preferred.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong written and verbal skills. Strong working knowledge of software development and SDLC processes. Familiar with one or more Agile methodologies. Technical Knowledge: Has expert knowledge of at least one application discipline, along with the ability to rapidly learn technical and business concepts relevant to the systems supported. Possesses a working knowledge of the business and/or technical environments in which the system operates and a solid knowledge of the business function supported. Demonstrates the desire and aptitude to become the expert in one or more technical disciplines and applies substantial effort to gaining more knowledge in that area. Familiar with architecture frameworks and software design patterns. Problem Solving & Decision Making: Devises technically feasible solutions for moderately complex problems. Uses innovative insights and creativity in evaluating alternatives. Demonstrates advanced ability to research and analyze business requirements and produce programming specifications for the system supported. Differentiates problem definition from symptoms. Team Orientation: Builds relationships with peers and other departments to achieve objectives, to work as one team and to secure necessary resources not under his/her personal control. Highly collaborative. Confident working in a multi-site, multi-shore, matrixed organization. Balances team/individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views. Adaptable. Completes multiple tasks in the time allocated to accomplish results. Accurately evaluates and estimates new tasks. Provides management with accurate and timely status information. Financial Awareness: Assesses financial impact of recommended designs/solutions. Works with Financial Analysts to identify pertinent facts for systems/projects and cost/benefit analysis.
