AmTrust Financial Services, a fast growing commercial insurance company, has a need for a Medical Education, RN for Workers Compensation in our Maitland, FL, Southington, CT or Alpharetta, GA offices.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To assist the Director of Medical Education and Strategy in the development of AmTrust’s medical curriculum, training, and ongoing improvement. The curriculum will support quality telephonic case management to proactively drive a medically appropriate return to work through engagement with the injured employee, provider and employer. The medical education nurse will help develop our nurses to be empathetic informative medical resources for our injured employees as they build personalized holistic approaches for each claim.

• Works with Director of Medical Education to research, plan, develop, implement and evaluate training strategies, initiatives, and materials including a comprehensive education programs to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs and professional development needs of the Telephonic Medical Case Managers, Utilization review nurses, pharmacy review nurses and adjusters.
• Develops curriculum that is reflective of AmTrust medical management philosophy and uses the appropriate methods of teaching to accommodate learning styles and the learning environment
• Develops and delivers/coordinates all educational programs as directed to support competence and professional growth of nursing staff.
• Assesses data and information related to claim medical outcome and other pertinent situations, including identification of trends, issues and supporting research to continuously improve curriculum.
• Stays abreast of and incorporates current research into nursing education practice.
• Provides leadership to managers and nurses and serves as a role model through educational programs and ongoing coaching and mentoring
• Consult with other trainers, managers, and leadership to improve claim outcomes through education.
• Contact and utilize outside vendors and resources for instructional technology as necessary
• Test and review created materials
• Maintain database of all training materials
• Coordinate and monitor enrollment, schedules, costs, and equipment
• May assist in training/orientation of new staff as requested
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Supports the organization's quality program(s).

.QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Active unrestricted RN license in a state or territory of the United States required. Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from accredited college or university or equivalent work experience preferred. Certification in case management, pharmacy, rehabilitation nursing or a related specialty is highly preferred. Acquisition and maintenance of Insurance License(s) may be required to comply with state requirements. Preferred for license(s) to be obtained within three - six months of starting the job. Written and verbal fluency in Spanish and English preferred

Experience

Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include two (2) years of direct clinical care OR two (2) years of case management/utilization management required.

Skills & Knowledge:
Knowledge of workers' compensation laws and regulations

Knowledge of case management practice

Knowledge of the nature and extent of injuries, periods of disability, and treatment needed

Knowledge of URAC standards, ODG, Utilization review, state workers compensation guidelines

Knowledge of pharmaceuticals to treat pain, pain management process, drug rehabilitation
Knowledge of behavioral health
Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
