Assurant is hiring for an Underwriter Assistant!

The Underwriter Assistant is responsible for drafting and distributing proposal document for existing clients using standard base rates with minor modifications which includes interpreting and evaluating risk submissions, developing rates and documenting underwriting assumptions. Underwriter is also responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring new and existing products. Underwriter will develop and deliver products that are priced to drive profitable growth and designed to attract sales.

Key Duties:

• Draft and distribute proposal document for existing clients using standard base rates with minor modifications which includes interpreting and evaluating risk submissions, developing rates and documenting underwriting assumptions.
• Review and modify customer forms.
• Review and modify rate and rule manuals.
• Prepare product implementation system specification packages.
• Monitor changes or trends from underwriting assumptions and identify corrective action.
• Review claim/contract exceptions and proposal documents within authority guidelines.
• Provide assistance to other underwriting team members.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years or less overall professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Risk Management or Mathematics

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic in MS Office Applications (Excel / PowerPoint / Word / Outlook / SharePoint
• Dedicated and driven individual with a track record of recent accomplishments
• A high degree of motivation and a self-starting attitude with a desire to thrive on new challenges and to take on additional responsibilities
• Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial, and challenging work environment
